When you come to R&S and ask people to pray for you who do you want them to pray to? I'm pretty sure you don't want a pagan, hindu, buddist, ect praying for you. That would mean you would have to admit that those religions are legitimate and that their gods and goddesses exist.

dwn nice try but your not going to convert me.

Searchingforthetruth yes I believe that everyone has a right to their beliefs. I just think it's ignorant for Christians to expect me to pray to their God when they are in need.

no, the bible says that pagans are witches. pagans don't worship the God of the beginning.
if you don't serve the beginning God then there is no other Gods. you are led from the truth.

I don't think you're asking about being converted or for an argument for Christianity, so I'm going to avoid those in my answer. What you seem to be asking about is our belief on the nature of prayer.

Let me tackle this one in three parts:

1. Who do you want them to pray to?

A Christian would naturally want you to pray to the Judeo-Christian God. We love our religion and want people to share it.
More generally, however, I simply want you to pray. What you name the divine, the face you put on something greater than us, is less important than the fact that you do believe. Its not a question of who I want you to pray to. I want you to pray.

2. I'm pretty sure you don't want a pagan, hindu, buddist, ect praying for you.

I believe that my God - our God - hears all well-intentioned, honest prayer. If you pray for me, no matter through what means and in what name, I believe that God hears and answers that prayer.

So, no, I wouldn't mind a person of another religion praying for me. There are enough atheists who won't pray for us, and enough religious people that wish us all harm. How foolish we would be to turn down a prayer from anyone!

3. If you did, you would have to admint that those religions are legitimate and that their gods and goddesses exist.

Appreciating your prayer doesn't mean I believe in your gods and goddesses. I believe in your prayer - that well-intentioned words from your heart are heard and answered by God.

I don't claim to know how God views pagans or people of any other religion. That's for God to know and decide, not me. However, I find it hard to believe that a loving, compassionate, prayerful person, one who is legitimately seeking the Truth, won't get to heaven. I just think that person will be surprised by what they find there, as you may well think I will be surprised.

The logical implication when someone asks for people to pray for them, they mean pray to their deity, i.e., like faith.

Lobbing out the "pray for me" comment into a mixed forum like this does not give implicit acknowledgment that all the other religions are valid.

Enjoy your paganism. Great question, by the way.

Not all christians wud expext u 2 pray 4 them, they shouldn't force their beliefs on anyone in the first place.

I myself is a Christian, I wud never dream of doing such a thing, I also don't believe in going 2 church or reading a bible.
I don't believe in forcing people 2 believe a religion either.

I don't care wat other people think of religions.

Wat I do say though wen someone who doesn't believe at all is:- " If something I believe in, But u don't
makes me become a better person,
even though u don't belive that it's true,
is this a bad thing in the first place,
becoming a better person, I mean"

The Bible does NOT say that Pagans are witches. Stop taking other people's word on what's in a book you've obviously never read. Either learn something about theology or shut up on the subject. You make yourself, and Christians in general sound like complete idiots.

Just need to throw in some grammatical info - it's Pagan, capital "p", and Goddess, capital "g". We demand equal time. 6,000 years of patriarchal b.s. is quite enough, thanks.

And Witches are usually Pagan, but not all Pagans are Witches, capital "w".

And that line in the bible about not suffering witches to live? That was deliberately changed. The original text said "Thou shalt not suffer a POISONER to live." 12 - 20 million victims of the Inquisitions would like you to know that there's a big difference.

Out of curiosity, I went through your answers to see an example of what you were talking about and found this question from 'Sunshine Girl':

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As4H2AwaG6NdjU4egz_VC_vty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071206191429AA18Pan&show=7#profile-info-btSZJH8xaa

Your response to her request was, "I seriously doubt you want a Pagan praying for you. Why should I? You're probably one of those people who would damn me to hell."

When I went to Sunshine Girls YAnswers profile, I saw no indication that she was Christian. In fact her Q/A is private so you jumped to a conclusion about her.

I also noticed the response of Christians to her plea for help, esp Nina's response.

So, is this an example of how you reach out to a person asking for help?

Why not and as a Pagen don't you admit that the christians have a right to their beliefs?

2007-12-07 08:53:00 · answer #9 · answered by Searchingfortruth 2 · 1 0

Your gods & goddesses do not exist. they are nothing more that the rock, stone, metal, glass or imagination you have made them out of. they have no power other than what you think you give it.

Why is it so hard for you to believe in the ONE TRUE GOD that loves you enough that He let His Son be sacrificed for you. Living for Christ is not about you can't do this and you can't do that. It is about a relationship with Christ. I have fun as a Christian. I play paintball, ride motorcycles, play softball, ect. My life is better (fun) since I have accepted Christ. Maybe you just haven't found the right Church to do to.
