who hasn't he beaten is a better question. many of his fights don't seem so impressive because he makes the other people look bad, they aren't bad they are incredibly good, but he is just that much better. He is #1 because fighters watch him and are astounded by what he does. A very important thing to realize is that it isn't neccisarily fans or promoters or commentators who say fedor is the best, its the other fighters, the people who know the sport the best. Promoters will talk about their top fighters and when you ask fans who the best is there are many people who come up (Penn, A. silva, Couture, Faber, Jackson), but when you ask the people the fans say are the best who is the best they all say the same thing: Fedor, when you ask pretty much any top fighter who is the best, its the same answer: Fedor. want examples?
"Fedor is the best pfp fighter in the world." - Randy Couture,
"Fedor is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world aside from bj Penn, those 2 are the best fighters in the world." Quinton Jackson
"He is the BEST." - Mark Coleman
"The best in the world, no doubt." - Phil Baroni
"Look, I've fought many people from around the world, so I've seen many strong fighters. But like him, never." - Renato Sobral
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva
"Our great champion, he is the BEST in the world." - Josh Barnett
"Fedor has no equals in Sambo or MMA." - Aleksander Mikhailin
"Fedor would be absolutely great in K-1." - Ernesto Hoost
"Fedor has no weakness! I have seen so many fights, and even the best fighters in the world have a flaw in their game but I have yet to find one in Fedor Emelianenko." - Bas Rutten
"Probably the best ever lived....he's a living legend right now and I don't think there's a man on this planet who can beat him; the man is unreal. Pound for pound the best in the world." - Diego Sanchez
"Fedor is my favorite." - BJ Penn
"Fedor is the most incredible fighter you'll ever see." - Frank Trigg
"Fedor is a machine." - Don Frye
"The best fighter to climb into ANY arena is Emelianenko fedor. He is in his own league and you can't compare nobody." - Kevin Randleman
"Fedor is just too dominant, too good at punching people in the face. The way he punches people man he's trying to kill people, with both hands. He's in a whole different class by himself." - Brandon Vera
"He is the best and undefeated... His striking game and his ground game is the best, so that's why he is the best... He is the sh*t " - Mark Hunt
"He's the total package; looks can be deceiving. He's incredibly strong, his hips are amazing, probably his best asset. Hard to hold down, hard to do anything with the guy.........**** he's just the best, that's why he's the best. He gets in position to throw the big bombs, he throws just as hard on the ground as he does on the feet. That's why he's the world Champion." - Mark Coleman
-"He's the fastest I've ever seen. Much faster than Mirko. And he's got a great reaction. Technically he may not have such a big advantage, but physically he is the fastest heavy guy in MMA history. He tries a punch, misses it, then immediately shoots again, Cro Cop for example didn't even see them coming. He must practise that a lot, because it's not easy to improvise that kind of thing. He is really with a good combination of styles, he can go from one art to the other, that's what makes him different." – Antonio Rodorigo Nogueira
"He has a fast eye, good for counter-attacking. And in every fight he shows up with something new under his sleeve. Against Filipovic he used a great clinch-strike combo: he'd go for the uchi-mata, quickly following with a powerful hook." - Pedro Rizzo
Liddell: 'I'll fight anyone, Silva? Yeah sure, Quinton Jackson? Sure, Randy Couture? Sure'
Reporter: 'What about Fedor Emelianenko?'
Liddell: '...Well if I'll have to...I'll fight him...if I have to'(sounding very uncomfortable)
Are there any fighters who don't say Fedor is the best? I'm only aware of one and that is Fedor himself, he says he hasn't fought everybody yet so he doesn't know who the best is.

I have been a Fedor fan for years and never doubted the fact that he was the best hw out there and the best pound for pound. It wasn't that he was the best at anything it was he was the second best at everything. The man punches so hard if he punches a maitress with all his might it will break his hands. Granted the Hv division is lacking in any organization right, and with Fedor not fight an actual HW contender his status as best p4p is slipping but since there is noone currnetly imo that can beat fedor he will reside as the best Heavyweight. Right now the one person I think has a good chance of beating him is Josh Barnett. he has the size, power and technique. I'm sorry even if Fedor looses a fight I will still consider him the best in the world simply based on having a record in mma od 26-2 while every other hw will have numerous more loses.

Because he's a heavyweight. If Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson were both in their primes at the same time, who do you think would get more coverage? Mike Tyson. People have a love for heavyweights for some reason. I remember someone on here saying that one of the reasons they weren't buying a card was because there were no heavies on it.

I don't think you can argue that Fedor has beaten the best group of heavyweights out of anyone. If you don't think Nog is "hard", just look at his last fight. Anyone else would have been out from that kick, but he was fine before too long.

Now the problem is, there's NO ONE in the heavyweight division worth talking about. There's no possible way I will consider Cheick Kongo a high level fighter, but even HE outgrappled CroCop. There's Fedor (highly inactive, and hasn't fought a heavyweight contender in approx. 2 years) Barnett (inactive, doing pro wrestling, coaching, and burning his bridges with the UFC with his idiotic comments) and Nogueira. Can anyone seriously tell me that there's another great heavyweight that I'm supposed to want to watch? No. Nobody else has a tank, or exciting fight value. Mac Danzig vs. Tommy Speer is more interesting to me than any Tim Sylvia fight, with the exception of Nog, but Nog's selling that one.

Its a matter of his record 26-1 with his only defeat coming by doctor stoppage due to a cut (a loss he later avenged as well). And he has defeated 8 guys who were top 10 in the world at the time they fought, as well as several other top 10 fighters in lower weight classes. No other heavyweight or MMA fighter period has creditials that are even close to Fedor's.

But he hasn't faced any HW of merit for two years (except Mark Hunt who was beating Fedor pretty bad IMO but Fedor pulled it out as always). I still think he is the best FOR NOW, the longer he goes without facing legitimate competition the more myself and others will lose interest. The top 10 HW fighters in 2007 is a very different list than the top 10 HW of 2005, if he doesn't face them they will begin to rule in his stead.

I definitely do no longer see how the HW opposition is extra powerful interior the UFC!? the only super HW fighter interior the UFC is NOG. Lesnar hasn't been examined till he beats NOG, Carwin, and Valesquez. i individually think of Rogers might desire to KO any of those men and NOG might desire to placed up any of them. I definitely have self belief that the UFC HW combatants are surprisingly hyped up different than Nog. None will grant something problematical for Fedor because of the fact he's merely too properly rounded and smart at this ingredient to his occupation. perhaps in 3 or 4 years UFC HW's will stand a huge gamble against Fedor in uncomplicated terms because of the fact he would be on the decline. In time I do think of Fedor and Lesnar will combat. heavily if Lesnar or any of the HWs had to coach they're the main suitable, they ought to bypass after Fedor yet they % to no longer because of the fact they might quite disguise in the back of the money in UFC. yet good now, Fedor has some stable opposition and would not choose UFC. Jordan did no longer choose the NBA.... basketball mandatory Jordan, merely as Fedor would not choose UFC... MMA desires Fedor.

He is still #1 due to his obvious athletic ability. The man has excelled at judo and sambo, and is very well conditioned. If you look at most other MMA fighters, MMA is the only thing they have done really well. The thing about MMA is that you only ever have to fight the guys the promoter thinks will put bums in seats. As you say he fought Big nog and cro cop. To win a judo or sambo tournament, you have to beat the opponents you truly deserve.
