I have not seen the documentary, but reading the article I find nothing unusual.
One, disgruntled "canon solicitor" interpreting documents for the documentary, countered by the Archbishop of Birmingham saying those documents have been misrepresented in the documentary, doesn't prove anything.
Additionally, it is mentioned that the documents refer to the misuse of the confessional. The sacrament of confession and the "seal" of confession is something that the secular world does not understand and usually misconstrues. Many think it's a place to go and get your sins forgiven and then go out and sin some more. This is ludicrous and not even close to understanding the sacrament.
I feel quite confident that the Pope now, or as Cardinal Ratzinger, would never hide abusive priests and allow them to continue in positions where they would have contact with children or young people.
As we all know from watching the media, things can be reported or left un-reported in order to give a certain subject a slant in either direction. So, it does not mean anything as far as I'm concerned.

This is one of the many reasons why God says "judgment begins in the house of God." God is beginning to clean out the churches. God will uncover the wickedness and evil that has crept into the houses of God. The members are suppose to be doing this, but the pastors will not even preach on hell and sin anymore. They are tickling the ears of the pew sitters and not telling them the truth.
Ephesians 5:3-6
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Of course he's involved. Any top dog would be involved in the protection of the image of the company. There is a 100% certainty he was and is being briefed on all the dirty deeds being done by his 'company.' He also gets briefed on all the GOOD the church does.
Your phrase "cover up" might not be correct. That implies an illegal attempt to conceal illegal activity from authorities. I believe he was involved in paying people off (which is not illegal), involved in not telling the press every time an employee screws up (also not illegal).

This is old news. If this guy was an average citizen who ran his own company...he'd of been brought up on charges. It's hard to have faith in someone who helps people be victimized. I can't help but wonder how he justifies his actions. I wonder what passages that he has read in the bible that makes him sleep better at night. I wonder what excuses he will give God on judgement day for the wrongs he has done.

The priesthood has always been the vocation of choice for pedophiles. I don't know why anyone is surprised, why they let their kids near them, or why they support that church!?
And why does our government let them handle it internally? Pedophilia is a crime and should be handled by the criminal justice system, not the church - they've proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted.

when things like this are discovered it is the pope and the priests that should be excommunicated and charged for their crimes,children should not be forced to go through trial to be discovered...they should be forced out of the church before another child gets caught in their web of deceit

I always get the creeps around the Pope and his Priests. The robes and all the secret ceremonies. I knew they were up to something no good. It's okay, they are going straight to HELL.
