or do they just do this crazy game I like to call:
'Bible' also know as
'Let's pick passages from one source, out of context, to support our viewpoint'

I can play that game too, so let's go for it! I'm ready! and bored!

I never said that 'man was in control of this world'. Man is only in control of his own destiny. Man doesn't affect the wider universe, and it is huge:

this is just the solar system.
Imagine the universe compared to this tiny slice of it.

Evolution seems to be in keeping with the findings of science. That is not to say that our knowledge is perfect - clearly it isn't but science gives us the tool-kit by which to continue the quest for knowledge and understanding.
One of the answers says you should use fact and reason to support your argument (actually, I thought that was what science was all about but I may be wrong) but they themselves did not cite any facts to prove creationism. The closest they came was saying that *evolution over 4.6 million years was mathematically beyond improbable*. I don't know where the time scale came from but I do recognise bluster when I smell it. What does "mathematically beyond improbable" mean? Beyond improbable can only mean impossible. The fact we can see evolution still going on casts some doubt on the credibility of such statements. Perhaps the person who gave that answer can do what they ask of others and post the proof that evolution is impossible.
Just because something is complicated doesn't make it untrue. Just because we don't fully understand the science behind everything doesn't make it untrue. What we as intelligent humans have is strong evidence that is compatible with the scientific theories that seem to hold true elsewhere to support the idea of evolution.
That does not mean you can't have a god. You can have as many as you like but, based on the evidence so far, I believe evolution is more plausible. Belief or non-belief in gods does not mean people lead any more or less moral lives. I think it is important that the quest for knowledge and understanding continues.

I have a creationist friend who is probably the most sensible and honest about the bible than anyone else I know, the one thing they don't do is make up their own interpretation of the Holy book, they take it literally. I respect that more than those who manipulate the readings for their own purposes. This friend has a depth of understanding that recognises how even a comma in the wrong place can alter the meaning of the text. I am not really religious but have admiration for my friend. Also correct me if I am wrong but creationists think evolution is the best proof of the creation

The article presents a referenced, evidenced thesis. You have presented an Appeal to Ridicule (i.e. a logical fallacy). Now all you have to do is present a rational rebuttal - so the thoughtful people can participate in the discussion. (but I won't hold my breath).

How do you think they came up with idea in the first place.
Now before I get shedloads of 'thumbs down' I just wanna say this is just my opinion. Creationists think more than most as, slowly but surely, the rug is being pulled out from underneath their feet. Creation theory is one of the oldest and most diverse thoeries going however it's gradually losing any basis in what we as humans are prooving to be fact. They pick parts out of the bible as this book seems to have an amazing power. Just like nostradamus' quadrants, the passages in this ancient text can be interpreted in anyway the reader sees fit. Thats why on here you tend to get people spouting off passages like their .... well ... gospel! The think that makes me laugh is when they seem to switch of there brains right side and tell you two different, completely contradictory, lines and then expect you to impressed by the persuasive power of their arguement!

Sorry just gotta add. Why is it the only real arguement creationists have for their belief is that an old theory may not be completely water tight. I mean come on, at least we're looking fr answers! If I had a penny for everytime I've heard a creationist bashing evolution theory maybe I'd be as rich as ..... the pope?!?

Are you going to try to get my answer deleted? I noticed the cowards in the Evolution vs Creation debate could not handle the real heat and deleted two questions the other day.

My 4 problems with Evolution

Thank you for your kind reply. Your warmth as a human being was felt in this. Thank your for your 'fatherly' advice and bits of wisdom.

The key problem I am having is the following can be boiled down into 4 points:

1. There really is not very much solid information that 'supports' evolution, and each attempt at a critique of the theory is met with vicious verbal attack.

2. I believe in God. Fundamentally either a person believes that God Created the Earth as recorded in the Bible, or God does not exist. God leaves this as the option for mankind.

3. 4.6 billion years is just not enough time for the world to have evolved to the state it is in right now. Mathematically is beyond improbable (It is especially on this point that people totally ignore the argument and never reply with information or facts)

4. There is a growing groundswell of institutions, lawmakers, and citizens who support either Creationism, Intelligent Design, or the teaching of Evolutionary Criticism in the Public School system. If everything they believed were simply based upon a few passages in Genesis, they they would easily be thwarted. But there is a growing body of evidence AGAINST the Evolutionary theory.

Frankly, as a Creationist I am tired of the same old replies and propaganda I recieve with every question. I am looking for someone to engage these ideas with honesty, courtesy, and comparing apples with apples. For instance math facts with math facts.

I am ready for a believer in the faith-based theory of Macroevolution to come to the table with concrete facts. Come on I dare you.

They can, but ask them to breath and talk at the same time as thinking and it all gets too much and they fall over. They can be tempted back to their feet with a banana though.

If you are bored why not have a read of The Holy Bible yourself. That way you will know that you have God's truth right there to read. May I suggest The Four Gospels of The New Testament--which were recommended to me as a good place to start Bible study.

One of the greatest "thinkers" (atheist) Anton Flew changed his mind considering the FACTS unbiasedly towards intelligent design. If he was one of the leaders of atheism for many decades, it might be wise to actually think instead of taking a Bio 101 class then spout off on a forum without seriously studying ALL the facts. You might be surprised with what you learn.
