Does this just mean it's time to get him fixed (that's all I can think of is maybe he's horny? lol) He's so personable and usually follows me around the house and snuggles with me when I sit down, etc. But the meowing seems to be getting worse and I live in an apartment building so I don't want to disturb my neighbors, although they have a nasty yappy chihuahua lol so I think I'm fine in that respect. I don't want to be mean but I was thinking of spraying him with a water bottle when he meows like that. Happened to you?

It's a sad needy meow like he wants something.

For some reason I think it's closer to him just wanting attention than being horny. They're never loud meows, and when i call him he does run over... Maybe he's just super needy. I must have spoiled him damn it.

My cats are all fixed and I have one that does the same as yours on a daily basis. You haven't spoiled him -- although do we really need a reason to spoil our Furry Children? -- but he does need to be neutered. He's 6 months old and time to be snipped.
He might hear things in the building that you don't. You can spray him when he meows, but if just calling him back and petting him does the trick then why punish him? I call my Sasha and he comes right back and snuggles on my lap (besides, when I spray Sasha he shuts his eyes and does nothing. He has long hair and the water never reaches his skin) A sharp word does more for him than anything.
Cats, and you can take this the way you want, also can hear and see supernatural things in your home. Odd yes, but There's no other way to describe it and he might be meowing at the creatures that come in and out.
My advice would be just to call him back and snuggle him, Dear One. Kittens are like that and Cats are the same.
Good luck and give him a good snuggling for me.

I'm not sure. I find my cats do something like that when they want attention. It is a questioning kind of meow. A lot of times if I call the cat doing the meowing, he or she comes running right away. If I go to them, a lot of time they will lie right down and expect some attention.

Occasionally the one cat will do this, then run to the door or the window to be let out when I come to see what the deal is.

Around this time of year, Female cats go into heat. The scent can carry for quite a ways. He's picking up the scent of a female in heat and he wants to go and find her. It's that simple. The drive to mate IS overpowering for him and he'll "cry to her" until she's no longer in heat and things will settle right down again. Heat in a female cat can last up to two weeks so for that long you'll have to put up with those behaviours until that neighborhod female is no longer in heat or gets impregnated by a male.

Perhaps getting the poor thing neutered IS the best thing you can do for yourself AND him, especially if you do NOT want him to mate and generate possible unwanted offspring that will end up being strays and/or worse.

If he is around 6 months old, get him fixed! That may not be why he is meowing though. All of my cats are fixed and they all do that occasionally. Usually they are trying to find out where another warm body is.

My cat is a 17 year old fixed female and she does this daily. She follows me everywhere too. More dog like than cat like. Anyway, she just is talking to you. My cat usually gets a doll or stuffed animal and brings it to me while she is doing this meowing, it's annoying and funny at the same time. Is he by any chance Siamese? They are known to be dog like and follow you lots.

If he is over 6 months old - yes get him fixed before he starts to smell.

On the other hand he is just lonely & loves you. My cat does exactly the same, I call it just daft behaviour. They only want to spend time with you as 'pack leader & food giver'.

Don't spray him unless he tiddles in the wrong place, how would you feel if your friend sprayed you just for asking where they are :-)

I would get him fixed. Before we got my boy cat fixed he used to meow reallllly loud out the window in the summertime, and I would bring him to my room, and would meow even louder to get out, he used to drive me crazy. My mom told me that the promblem would get better if we got him fixed. Just call the vet, and tell them what his promblem is, and see what they suggest, then you can get an appointment to get him fixed. Hope I helped you!♥♥
