Wouldn't there be more believers if the Bible would just mean what it says. Also wouldn't people be less confused if the Bible didn't reverse everything it says.

Those who don't believe me, prove it to yourselves, pick up a Bible, and I promise that you cannot read it all without being confused.
Those who believe they know what the Bible means, I ask you if that is true why doesn't everyone believe you? If the Bible has one true meaning, why doesn't everyone agree? Think logically. Behind every thought, every word, every action is a strong reason.

Is your perfect God the same perfect God envisioned by those you love?

i totally agree with you on this. the reason what i understand is that it was corrupted. here i don't want to question the intentions of anyone who did it. but i do want to say that most of the people who believe the bible as a whole , they believe in blindly. if we see it logically and scientifically it is gonna let us down more then once. in fact hundreds and hundreds of contradictions. i am not gonna utter words here like many of us are doing on answers. i think if i give proof my words would have more value. the people which you are telling you to read the bible blindly are wrong. see below for confirmation of your confusion.

Dr. W. Graham Scroggie of the MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE, Chicago, one of the most prestigious Christian Evangelical Mission in the world, answering the question — "Is the Bible the Word of God?" (also the title of his book), under the heading: IT IS HUMAN, YET DIVINE. He says on page 17:
"Yes, the Bible is human, though some, out of zeal which is not according to knowledge, 1 have denied this. Those books2 have passed through the minds of men, are written in the language of men, were penned by the hands of men, and bear in their style the characteristics of men."

Another erudite Christian scholar, Kenneth Cragg, the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem, says on page 277 of his book, "The Call of the Minaret":
"Not so the New Testament3 . . . There is condensation and editing; 4 there is choice, reproduction and witness. The Gospels have come through the mind of the Church behind the authors. They represent experience and history."

If words have any meaning, do we need to add another word of comment to prove our case? No! But the professional propagandists, after letting the cat out of the bag, still have the face to try to make their readers believe that they have proved beyond the shadow of any doubt that the Bible is the "irrefragable 6 Word of God." Their semantic gymnastics — equivocating, and playing with words — is amazing

Both these Doctors of Religion are telling us in the clearest language humanly possible that the Bible is the handiwork of man, all the while pretending that the are proving to the contrary. An old Arab saying goes: "IF SUCH ARE THE PRIESTS, GOD BLESS THE CONGREGATION."

The Jehovah's Witnesses in their "AWAKE!" Magazine dated 8 September, 1957, carried this startling headline — "50000 ERRORS IN THE BIBLE?"

"CHRISTIAN MES-A-MATHICS"
3. "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the FATHER,
the WORD, and the HOLY GHOST: and these three are one."
1st Epistle of John 5:7 - AV
This verse is the closest approximation to what the Christians call their Holy Trinity in the encyclopedia called the BIBLE. This key-stone of the Christian faith has also been scrapped from the RSV without even a semblance of explanation. It has been a pious fraud all along and well-deservedly has it been expunged in the RSV for the English-speaking people. But for the 1499 remaining language groups of the world who read the Christian concoctions in their mother tongues, the fraud remains. These people will never know the truth until the Day of Judgment

Mrs. Ellen G. White, a "prophetess" of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, in her Bible Commentary Vol. 1, page 14, has this confession to make about the fallibility of the "Holy Bible."
"THE BIBLE WE READ TODAY IS THE WORK OF MANY COPYISTS WHO HAVE IN MOST INSTANCES DONE THEIR WORK WITH MARVELLOUS ACCURACY. BUT COPYISTS HAVE NOT BEEN INFALLIBLE, AND GOD MOST EVIDENTLY HAS NOT SEEN FIT TO PRESERVE THEM ALTOGETHER FROM ERROR IN TRANSCRIBING."
In the following pages of her commentary, Mrs. White testifies further: "I SAW THAT GOD HAD ESPECIALLY GUARDED THE BIBLE" (from what?) "YET WHEN COPIES OF IT WERE FEW, LEARNED MEN HAD IN SOME INSTANCES CHANGED THE WORDS, THINKING THAT THEY WERE MAKING IT PLAIN, WHEN IN REALITY THEY WERE MYSTIFYING THAT WHICH WAS PLAIN, BY CAUSING IT TO LEAN TO THEIR ESTABLISHED VIEWS, WHICH WERE GOVERNED BY TRADITION."

The most vociferous of all the Bible-thumpers are the Jehovah's Witnesses. On page 5 of their "FOREWORD" mentioned earlier, they confess:
"IN COPYING THE INSPIRED ORIGINALS BY HAND THE ELEMENT OF HUMAN FRAILTY ENTERED IN, AND SO NONE OF THE THOUSANDS OF COPIES EXTANT TODAY IN THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE ARE PERFECT DUPLICATES. THE RESULT IS THAT NO TWO COPIES ARE EXACTLY ALIKE" Now you see, why the whole "foreword" of 27 pages is eliminated from their Bibles. Allah was making them to hang themselves with their own erudition.

i do not mean to hurt the feelings of any Christian brother or sister. just wanted to present my observations with proof..

I believe you. Books were written by men who were inspired by God. They were written at different times and under very different conditions. They are in different styles. Then the leaders selected the books which form the bible. Jewish Rabbis selected the books for the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and Christians selected the books for the New Testament.
A lot is difficult to read and then you need a good commentary. I particularly find it hard to get my mind around Hebrews. Some people give up and only read the easy books. - I love the gospel according to St Luke - or worse still content themselves with learning a few texts.
My God is the same as that of my wife although I would never claim we have the same understanding.

Because it's allegorical. Symbolism and parables work on us in a way that expands our minds. It also enables it to say many things at the same time like Shakespeare sometimes does, for those with ears to hear. The Bible has many meanings, different people can get different things from it. They sometimes disagree, that's okay. The Bible can contradict itself, it's not a perfect translation and they didn't include the best books in the Bible. But it's scripture so is very useful.
There is only one perfect God with many manifestations. We all envision God differently because it's hard to comprehend something that's infinite, but it's the same God.

I think that your question answers itself; God is not the problem we are. The bible is very specific. How about Rom. 6:23 for example. The wages of sin is death... Agree or disagree? I have read the bible cover to cover more than once and have yet to find one contradiction or reversal, let alone 'reverse everything' as you say. You were probably just using hyperbole, right? I agree that behind every word, thought, and action there is a reason, why don't you take your own advise and find them in the bible, you won't be sorry. God Bless

The Bible is specific. It is all the doctrines of man clouding up everything that is the problem. Most of the confusing things are not from the Bible, but are men's false doctrines.

The trinity, which makes no sense to anyone, is one of these. So is immortality of the soul and everyone goes to heaven. What is earth? A detour? Why not eliminate the ride and just stay there? Again, false teachings from man, not with God.

Eliminating these false doctrines and looking at it anew, allows us to understand the logic of the Bible so much more.

I love reading the Bible - it's a Beautiful mysterious collection of writings inspired by the Holy Spirit (The Spirit of Jesus Christ)! The whole Bible is really about JESUS!!!
If you want to understand the meaning/purpose of a book why not ask the AUTHOR of the book?

2 PETER 1:20-21
"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."

The mystery of the Bible is that its the inspired Word of God. So GOD is the AUTHOR of the BIBLE. The Prophets and Apostles were merely instruments used to document the Holy Word of God. It's no ordinary book! There are hidden mysteries in the Word. There is REAL power in the BIBLE - I'm a witness of that!!
The Holy Spirit of God (The Spirit of Jesus Christ) is the One who reveals the meaning/interpretation of the Word. DONT TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT ON YOUR OWN - You are better of seeking the answers from the AUTHOR.

My dear friend, Even in the bible there is a text that says that many won't understand His words. You know why does this thing happen? It is because those who have a hard heart will have it harder by the scripture. That is a way that God has figured it out just to find those ho have faith.

My God is perfect, and when someone come truthfully into Christ. This person starts interpreting the scripture much easier than you think

The Bible is specific, you just need to slow down and try and meditiate on the verses you don't understand. Try a study Bible ( i have a NKJ ), it breaks down certain passages so you can understand them.
Everyone doesn't agree because there are many people "who need more proof"and need "to see a sign". Thats the same thing the Pharisees said to Jesus.
God is perfect, but some people feel that He will love you no matter what you do. These people are worshipping false idols. Why should your Creator love you if all you do is sin???

"A tremendous quantity of Christians additionally think that Jesus is normally going to return again in our lifetimes" And had been all verified fallacious for the beyond 2000 years. "how do you give an explanation for the entire SPECIFIC predictions within the Bible which are coming real in these days" Wars and earthquakes don't seem to be very targeted and feature been occurring considering the fact that day a million.

The Bible,is the gathering of many thoughts through out 2 thousand yeats.
Now, the modern editions, are just a compilation of that knowledge .
If what you are asking is "Why God can't be more specific about certaine things?"
...In this world there are many problems in need of serious solutions , and there were problems even before you and I were born!!
Now why God dosn't do much about about them,?
Why would it?
It has you to hel fix it in a small way; plus 6 billion other fellow human beings in this world .
Perhaps. you should try writing a revised edition of the holly book!!.
