2 1/4 cups dried split peas
2 quarts cold water
1 1/2 pounds ham bone
2 onions, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch dried marjoram
3 stalks celery, chopped
3 carrots, chopped
1 potato, diced
DIRECTIONS
In a large stock pot, cover peas with 2 quarts cold water and soak overnight. If you need a faster method, simmer the peas gently for 2 minutes, and then soak for l hour.
Once peas are soaked, add ham bone, onion, salt, pepper and marjoram. Cover, bring to boil and then simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Remove bone; cut off meat, dice and return meat to soup. Add celery, carrots and potatoes. Cook slowly, uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.

The dry split peas can make a delicious & easy soup. If you add a finely chopped carrot or 2 & about the same amount of celery (1-2 stalks) and perhaps a chopped onion with enough water to cover all ingredients. Season to taste with salt, pepper & if desired, ham hocks, ham bone, turkey wings (smoked or plain), sausage or whatever meat you want. It tastes fine without meat though in a vegetarian split pea soup & is generally cheaper to cook.
The cranberries are super easy. Make cranberry sauce. Just add about a cup of water and 1-2 cups of sugar depending on how sweet you want & bring to a boil & cook until the cranberries pop. This will be the true taste of the cranberries and also when they pop, the natural pectin inside makes it nice & thick. Make sure not to over sweeten as you can always add later, but you can't take it out.
GOOD LUCK!

Make a split pea soup. Find recipe on the web.
The cranberries should have a recipe on the package, if you like Cranberry sauce.
I love it and we eat it all year, not just on Thanksgiving.
Check out recipes for that too.
My daughter make Cranberry Muffins, but I don't have her recipe.
I don't think they would work mixing them together.
It takes a lot of sugar to sweeten the Cranberries, but I love them and they are very good for us.

Split peas- pea soup. Get a knuckle of ham and boil it in water, when its done scrape off the meat and add the peas. Cook until the peas are mushy. Cook for longer (until a thick paste) and let it cool to make Peas pudding (lovely on sandwiches)
Cranberies -- Jelly.

split pea soup is awesome.
Can eat the cranberries with some cool whip for desert. Or you can freeze them and drop a few in some sprite or 7 up.

Mix the peas with a little salt & wasabi & serve as a snack.
Skewer the cranberries onto cocktail sticks, perhaps 3 on a stick, dip in melted chocolate, leave to set & serve. Tip, once dipped in chocolate, set on greased baking paper, so that a flat surface is created on the chocolate as it sets to make them easier to serve! Yum

with the cranberries you could make a nice jelly of jam but they need to be cooked with sugar as they are really sour but they go really nicely with oranges
dry split peas are best in soups you just add them to thicken and they add protein
