Well, I'm an Atheist who loves to hear religious debate. I keep an open mind, but I am sensible. I believe in science and also try to be a logical thinker. I used to be a christian until I started studying theology in my spare time. I think it is funny how most religious people when approached about the existence of god say to prove he doesnt exist. But like in court, in order to prove that something happened the duty of evidence lies with the prosecution. (you are saying god is real with no evidence supporting that claim.) Well, that's not really a good start on trying to convert someone, so I was wondering if anyone else wanted to try a different approach.
Now if anyone gets on here and starts ranting, remember christians, it's your duty to bring the lost sheep back to the lord, not drive them away. lol.
So does anyone wanna try to convert me? Go ahead, I'll listen if you make a good point.

Of course I am going to be arrogant, I said I wasn't going to believe it unless there was a good point brought up. There hasn't been one yet, but your lack in faith that I can't be converted shows the lack of faith in your own god. If you consider, you say you believe all things are possible through god, then what is to say that he wont come down and bestow me with a miraculous vision like thousands supposedly have seen?

Oops, I missed one. Well with the atom and the brain. You're right, I have never seen a brain in my head or an atom. But there are brains in every animal I have killed, so I could assume that I have a brain as well. And also with brain surgeons and chemists, I don't think that their jobs are hoaxes. People have seen brains and studied atoms, and I have studied and have a basic understanding of these things. I don' t think they are complete yet or are in any way perfect, but I know they exist, because I can see it and feel it, and so can other people.

Well dude with the really long answer, you bring up a good point, it could be possible for a being with god-like qualities to evolve given the nature and unknown age of the universe. But If that did happen, and this creature did create the earth and life on it, and did everything the bible said he did. Where is it now? And why did it leave? I'm not saying there still isn't a possibility of that, and I will research that theory more. But if it is a creature like that roaming the universe, that really doesn't explain spiritual existence or heaven. Very good theory though, kudos to you.

Well when you say that all scientific theories fail to explain how we exist, do you know you have read over them all. I mean there are controversial science theories everywhere, and everyday something new is discovered and something old is disproven. All science is theoretical, because there is always the chance it could be proven wrong. But the high probability is that the ones under the most scrutiny for the longest amount of time are probably correct. There are theories I don't agree with at all, but we've only begun to scratch the surface at finding the origins of life and the beginnings of the universe. I think it is funny though that religion, even to this day hinders scientific progress. But just because something lacks explanation, doesn't make an alternative automatically correct. Remember that.

And one last thing, if it isn't the duty of christians to convert other people, then why the hell do you preach at all? Why not just worship in your own homes and quite telling everyone else that they're going to burn in hell for not sharing your beliefs. You know what else isnt your duty? Judging others. So before you tell me im going to burn in hell, remember that god is the only one that can judge, and those that condemn in his name, are sinners just the same. Your bible says that, so practice what you preach you hypocrits and make way for the christians that actually have the guts to stand up for their beliefs.

You were never a Christian...and no man has ever come to Christ by studying "theology". The Word of God would have brought you to the realities of God's existance as it does for thousands of people everyday. I've been a closet theologian for over a decade now and its only served to make my faith stronger and stronger to the point of being unmoveable. That your experiance was the opposite says that the path you took didn't begin at the same starting point...faith in Christ. I don't know an atheist on the planet that doesn't say they've studied the Bible and understand it to be a pack of lies...well, the truth is...there are ways to test to see if anyone has truely studied the Word of God. If you have then you can tell me what these certain aspects are and then refute them..
Salvation
The Kingdom of God
The Two Witnesses
The anti-christ
Sabbath
the beast
the sword
the tree of life
the tree of knowledge of good and evil
when did mercy and sacrifice first begin?
what is hell, where is it and who goes there?
what is heaven, where is it and who goes there?
who has an immortal soul?
You don't have to believe in any of these concepts to understand that they are what the Bible teaches...so if you have studied theology...biblical theology then you should have come accross one or more of these precepts and are able to now tell me what they mean and where the answers are found in the Bible...doesn't mean they are substantial or real or etc..though I believe they are...just that they are there. In my mind...anyone who truely understand these and others as presented in the Word of God could not preclude that there is no God..it would be nay impossible. Love in Christ, ~J~

Well, you can't prove it.
But, from a logical perspective:
The Big Bang theory, and all scientific theories, fail to explain where the original matter came from. All matter in the universe is spreading away from the center of the universe, due to the explosion known as the big bang.
But science can't figure out how their was any stuff there to explode in the first place.
Same flaw that leads you away from religion; it lacks logic.
So, while I can't prove God exists, I can say that science fails to explain how we exist. Matter can neither be created nor destroyed; yet somehow matter spontaneously appeared at the beginning of the Universe.
Religion at least admits to demanding a degree of faith.
Also, your comparison to the courts is inaccurate; there is no "prosecution" in this case, so each side is equally expected to bring forth "proof", and each side fails to bring it foward.

It is not the duty of Christians to bring back "lost sheep". In this analogy, God would be the shepherd and the sheep who are not lost would be Christians. The Bible asks; To what lengths would the shepherd go to get that one lost sheep? To what lengths would a father go to find his lost child? Think back to Jesus' parable of the seed. We Christians are here to sow the seeds, but we cannot make them grow. We cannot prove the existence of God any more than you can disprove His existence. So, I guess we are at a stalemate. The truth is, no one here can "convert" you. You have free will. God said "search for me with your heart, and I will not hide My face from you."

I suggest you just bash your head against the computer (your suggestion). After all, you seem to have your predestined answers anyway.
No point anyone trying to convert you because by your standards and your logic and your interpretation of God your future is already determined.
At any rate it is not our responsibility to "convert you". The ultimate responsibility lies with you. He has given you a choice. Once you get off this roller-coaster ride you are on your head will stop spinning and that dedicated logic you bandi about will be a thing of the past.

Hello
I am a Roman Catholic. I am not that very religious.
Well, I am a sinner myself.
I will not prove to you that God exist because honestly I can't prove it to you. I won't ask you to prove that He doesn't exist because you can't prove that either. Quits :)
I won't tell you anything about Christianity or Catholicism. And I won't tell you about God. I won't tell you anything at all.
Are you really that open minded?
Will you try to find a Catholic Congregation?
Will you give or donate for charity and ask a brown scapular?
Will you wear that brown scapular and not take it off?
There is a divine promise that whosoever dies wearing this (brown) scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.
I just want you to wear it and nothing more.
I hope you'll do it. I won't convert you. Mother Mary would.
I really hope you would.
I will happily mail you a brown scapular if you like. But there is no way I can send you. Will you just visit a Carmelite Congregation?

I was once born right into a Catholic household. By the time I had completed moment grade in a Catholic college I begged my mom to permit me cross to public college. The simplest factor I can suppose of that I did not like was once the stress. From then on I had no curiosity in Catholicism. When I was once 19 I in brief lived with an older sister who was once a born once more fundie. To hold peace till I moved out I gave in to her relentless call for that I turn out to be one myself. That took me approximately four months. Most of my grownup existence my again has been became clear of equipped faith. I've recognized some distance too many hypocrites. In my past due 30's I started having a few curiosity in each Christian Gnostic ideals and Buddhism. For approximately five years I was once very fascinated by Buddhism quite often, however I would not say I was once Buddhist. I noticed the Dalai Lama at Rutger's University in 2005. At this factor I uncover myself looking to comply with the lessons of Christ. This on no account is to mention I sign up for Mainstream Christianity. But there are lots of similarities among what Buddha taught and what Christ taught. Ultimately my ideals are that we will obtain quality non secular development through very sensible and elementary regulations that require no distinct faith: Be well to others, and most likely well will come again to you. Forgive others and they are going to most probably forgive you. Do no longer dangle to the arena's view of existence and materialism and you'll uncover that you're going to undergo much less. Yes, I suppose in a better vigour. For simplistic functions I name that vigour "God". I don't suppose men and women who suppose/suppose another way than I do cross to hell. Including atheists. The thought that men and women suppose are "stored" despite the fact that they do terrible matters towards others is patently absurd. Same factor is going for men and women who suppose even essentially the most ethical, form and beneficiant atheist will burn without end. edit- crap. I bet I did not fairly reply what you requested. Umm.. this discussion board simplest reinterates my present ideals. How's that?!

No one has the power to actually convert anyone to Christ. The Holy Spirit has the ability to convert. Jesus said that no man cometh to the Father except the Spirit draw him. If you are a Sinner and we all are Sinners, except those that saved by God's Grace, and you have a desire to know God. Be assured that the Holy Spirit will reveal Himself to you. The work of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of our Sin, and to Save us from our Sin, it is His work not ours. But, we have a mandate form Christ to Go into all the World and make Disciples, this is our Work, to teach the New Believer. Seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened to you. God Bless.

It isn't up to me to convert you.
It's up to you to continue to keep an open mind, and keep reading and studying.
The "logical" answer, of course, is that God doesn't exist. However, God defies logic. I've had experiences with God that defy logic. I've seen miracles for which there is no natural explanation.
In order to find God, one has to look beyond natural explanations and logic. God can't be placed in a test tube and observed in a lab.

well, i am not a Christian, but,i'd like to ask u somethings.
have u ever seen an atom? where's the proof that an atom exists the way we are supposing it to exist?
another question:
where's the proof that u have a brain?
u can say that u have a brain when u can show it to everyone ,by taking it out.
the answer to all these questions is
faith.
u simply have to have faith to work with subject of chemistry.
when u can have faith on all these topics and accept the chemical facts without seeing them yourself.what's the harm in having faith in God.

I can't convert you into anything, but maybe I can 'brainwash' you a little (or is the word 'enlighten?')...someone made a series of youtube videos, u'll find it interesting...lots of evidence thrown in to make the theory of it seem like a big possibility, but i warn you it's pretty dark and disturbing:
