Mary the mother of Jesus, while in the upper room in Acts Ch1 - what do you think she is doing? leading the prayer meetings etc.... or what?

My understanding: In obedience to the word of God, she had head covering ( 1 Cor 11 ) on, and kept silent in the presence of men (1 Cor 14:34-35, 1Tim 2:12). What a beauty of grace, even if the sisters had done so today. Here we have another glimpse of the life of Mary in the book of Acts.

Do you think she led in the prayer meetings, as what some of the roman catholics said? ?

What saith thou?

If she had a head covering on, it was because it was a Jewish tradition, NOT because the Bible says that women are to wear a head covering. That passage in Corinthians clearly states that a woman's hair is given her for a covering, NOT that she needs to wear a veil. I would encourage you to study it further, as there is simply no Biblical precedent for women to wear a veil or any kind of head covering other than long hair.

As for keeping silence, that is something women are to do in a church meeting, and it doesn't mean sitting there with your mouth shut and never talking until you get home. lol It means that you do not try to teach everyone something, it means that you don't ask a million questions (women are told to ask their husbands at home - this encourages the man to be the spiritual head of his home), it means you don't argue or anything like that. Anyways, the passage you describe says that the women were praying too. While I have doubts as to whether they were leading the prayer meeting, I am certain that they were involved too. Women are to be very much involved with their church - they just aren't supposed to have leadership positions (such as song leading, teaching a mixed adult Sunday school class, being a pastor, etc.).

If she was LEARNING, yes, I'm sure she learned in silence. I'm also sure that if she had short hair instead of long, she wore head covering. Both, of course, are in accordance with the laws in the New Testament.

On the other hand, if she had something to say, I'm sure she would have been able to say it. It wasn't church, but simply a meeting. She would have been allowed to speak.

Oh, and read Galatians 3:28 and Romans 16.
