Well, I am British, work here in Qatar and earlier this year worked in Kuwait. I can tell you I have seen it written in the local press and seen on TV shows that many Middle Easterners are preferring to go on holiday to Egypt, North Africa, S.E. Asia and China. It's not so much 9/11, it's the fact that the Americans and their country are generally disliked in the Middle East these days.

nicely, there are over 7 million Muslims residing in u . s ., as we communicate and greater advantageous than double that determine in unlawful immigrants. maximum of those that have been getting alongside with their acquaintances did no longer have any issues, yet people who "celebrated" the "Victory of Islam", and there have been extremely a number of those that did, earned the scorn and dislike of their acquaintances. So, that's a blended bag, easily. besides the undeniable fact that, what's frightening is that there are around 21 million of those human beings already right here and that's a typical actuality that the Hezbollah have a base in CA! different than the common actuality that Muslim localities and ghettos are common to be breeding grounds for offender gangs, the madrases are additionally common to be terrorist education centers for their young ones !? What i'm traumatic approximately is what are we doing approximately this? i comprehend we are a tolerant lot; yet, isn't this taking too massive a danger? regardless of each thing, their numbers are not any guffawing count and that's a typical actuality that worldwide Domination is the schedule of Islam the place they're going to shrink all others to truly pathetic situations in the event that they succeed. Are we going to look ahead to them to benefit the final public, like is going on in uk that's fraught with issues now; till now we act certainly? Peace. ST

Hey, as a thought exercise, imagine if the 9/11 terror attack had happened in Sudan. Do you think they would simply have executed all foreigners, given the recent teddy bear fun?
There is some alienation perhaps, but they aren't being strung up on the lamp posts and they are no rallies to kill them all.

It varies. I have 1 friend from Iran and 1 friend from Syria. These are the only middle-eastern friends I have. For them 911 has had little impact as they do not go to mosque - they attend Christian churches on a limited basis. They are fully Americanized into our culture but occasionally we have parties where they cook and prepare their favorite mid-eastern dishes. I love their food.
They have many stories they tell. Stories that were passed on from generation to generation, about Arab culture. Very interesting!
The female from Syria never wears a veil. She always wears western clothing although some of her art and furnishings are mid-eastern. She sometimes travels to Syria to visit her parents but she does not want to go back to live there.
My male friend from Iran is about 28. He is clean shaving with absolutely no visible connection to his birthplace. He drinks, he smokes and could care less about what goes on in the middle-east.
To expand on your question a little. I am a 9th generation American with Scottish-Irish-English roots. Those like me with a similar heritage feel fine with middle-easterners to the extent that they ASSIMILATE INTO our CULTURE! Very important that they NOT wear veils, try to bargin with prices at the grocery store check-out, demand loudspeakers for Call-to-Prayer, and demand footbaths in public places. They have NO RIGHT to DEMAND anything beyond what everybody else gets. Period.
Otherwise, I like middle-easterners just fine - just ask my friends!
