how to ask a guy out?

this guy goes to a different school and and his school is like close to mine so i can walk his school. i was mean around him in elementary so it wouldn't seem that i like him. but i do and i don't know if he does. and it's sort of weird for being mean to him then asking him plus his friends are like in the "popular" group who would say don't go out with me


P.s. don't make fun of me by saying that why did you act mean and all that and i wanted to apologize to him before it was to late and well i got chickend out.

I would keep it simple. Give him a ring, and just ask how he's going. He will probably be surprised to hear from you, then just ask if he'd like to meet you after school. It's surprising how people are receptive to positive approaches. He might even say something like "Hey, I didn't think you liked me;" which will give you an opening to say something in response. Don't apologise at this stage, just go with the flow.
