Too many people missed the key concept in my argument. Let's see if it happens again.
God supposedly made man to be dominant and woman to be submissive. But there are strong women in this world and submissive men. Let it never be said that I am the dominant one in the relationship between myself and my girlfriend. I mean, you could-- but you'd be stupid.
Many men, based on this belief, think that they should not take orders from a woman. They also consider women unfit to be put in positions where they would need to make decisions and be responsible-- this, according to them, is a man's job.
This is the same principle as racism. Just because black people commit a lot more crime does not mean that the upper-middle-class black dude who lives across the street is going to steal your car.
In conclusion, I don't care where Eve came from, it is discriminatory to tell strong women that they are unfit to lead.

DBU: Don't worry about it. I know that not all Christians believe this. It's the belief I'm attacking, not the group.

Dear AM of Hawaii,
As in my other answer, God has clearly given us roles. If the man's role is to love the women then part of that is to listen to her opinions and lovingly consider them. But a man who says ok honey you're more competent than me- you be the "head of the house," it's awfully strange...
i think when you use the term discrimination you are implying that having defined gender roles is a bad thing. God meant it to be a good and beneficial thing- and so obviously no one is going to say: Discrimination is Godly and the way that people understand discrimination is wrong.
Again there are exceptions to the rule like in some parts of China where male leadership is really missing- God has raised up some faithful female Pastors and they do a tremendous job- but God is describing the role of men and women, and women who tend to take the lead over men- also tend to not respect them and to not feel like they have to submit to anyone... and that in some ways is not healthy- which is why it falls outside of the roles that God has prescribed in Scripture.
Kindly,
Nickster

I feel men and women should be treated as equals. not to say there are certain things that men can NATURALLY do better. sports, lumber jacking, working as a butcher. Women are good at other stuff. Multi-tasking, taking care of children. We were born for more matronly duties. It's not unfair, it's just life. I can still play sports, lumberjack and be a butcher if I wanted.
But I feel feminine and would love being a mother and be a faithful wife. That's just the type of girl I am.
Though if a man tells me that I can not do something purely based on that I am the opposite gender, that is discrimination. Whether the bible says it or not. I will not be beneath my husband or any other man.
In traditional Judaism, women are for the most part seen as separate but equal. Women's obligations and responsibilities are different from men's, but no less important

Discrimination is wrong, but that's a political question, not a religious one, though some religions do encourage discrimination. The bible is full of discrimination and even genocide.
The Abrahamic religions have a fear of women's power encoded in them. Most of their laws aim to control and subordinate women, because most cultures in that area at that time were Goddess-centric, peaceful and egalitarian. The Jews were shifting to an hierarchical war economy, probably because of climate change that created mass starvation, and they did everything they could to erase the Goddess cultures that came before them. It was never about being fair - it was about shifting wealth upward to the elite class of patriarchs.
Now that we're in the 21st century, it would be nice if we could recognize those scriptures for what they were - political doctrine with specific goals - and move past them.

God has always been discriminatory.
Sic: Chosen people vs. NOT chosen people.
Look what happened to people whose lands were invaded by the Hebrews upon the orders of god. They would slaughter them to the child. Women were being maligned from Genesis to Revalations. Not just being told to submit, but being blamed for the very exsistence of sin, and grief, and all forms of suffering.

Women can be in leadership postions, but in general man woman relationship, God has given man authority over the woman. The man to be more logical, the woman more emotional;the man stronger, the woman weaker, the man the provider, the woman the caregiver.Essentially in a Godly relationship the two should balance each other.

There are certain situations where I would prefer to be lead by a man. In a general sense, I would not say they are unfit to lead.

i truly believe that the only way for someone to understand the concept, is for them to be born into a home where the concept is practiced.
A home with a loving mother and father.
As God intended.
