This means you should follow what Algore says without asking any questions.
When people talk this way, hold on to your wallet!

It means Al needs to hire better speech writers. If the media went after Gore the way they go after Bush or Dan Quayle, he would have retired long ago.
You should see all of the errors in Gore's movie. He displays one totally bogus chart where it shows the globally averaged annual surface temperature going up and down in the same year. It's hysterical. Steve McIntyre has a picture of it here:

I think it means, if you want an instant answer, do it alone.
If you want to go far (succeed and reach long-term goals for the good of all), let's do it together.
We have to go far (we have to do the latter), quickly. He says quickly but not fast, because you cannot just quick-fix global warming. Our society is plagued with instant things: instant internet, instant checkout, instant orders, etc.
I think this is what he means.

As an individual If you don't change the way you contribute to global warming, then you will die fast, but if you want the world to live longer, everyone has to come together and fix the problem.
maybe?..

I believe what he is trying to say is that we can accomplish much more working together to achieve a common goal than we can working alone. He just seems to have botched it up a bit. It's a leadership analogy that is frequently used to show how working together accomplishes more. One example is: one horse can pull a load of 600lbs. and another horse can pull a load of 700lbs. but, when hitched together they can pull 2000lbs. On the flip side, one horse can run faster than two horse hitched together.

EDITED FOR CLARITY -
"If you want to go fast, go alone"
When running in a group, the fastest guy has to slow down or run alone. When traveling in a group, different peoples needs slow the group down.
"if you want to go far, go together"
When climbing Mount Everest, a team makes it a whole lot easier to get there. Someone who's not a great climber can do it, if they're in a good team.
The second relates to global warming.
"We have to go far"
Global warming will be difficult to solve.
"Quickly"
And the time for solving it is running out.
The overall message of the quote is that we need to work together in a way we don't usually work together.
And we can do it. Here's a practical and affordable plan:

It means that although we have a long way to go to solve the problems of global warming, we can get there alot faster if each person does thier individual part to stop it.

I rather like these quotes from algore.
"I'm very familiar with the importance of dairy farming in Wisconsin. I've spent the night on a dairy farm here in Wisconsin. If I'm entrusted with the presidency, you'll have someone who is very familiar with what the Wisconsin dairy industry is all about."
“During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”
"A zebra does not change its spots."
"Machismo Gracias"
"Throughout most of my life, I raised tobacco. I want you to know that with my own hands, all of my life, I put it in the plant beds and transferred it. I've hoed it. I've dug in it. I've sprayed it, I've chopped it, I've shredded it, spiked it, put it in the barn and stripped it and sold it.
"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Delgadillo, Thank you for your letter regarding the protection of the Texas eagle. I appreciate hearing from you. "I share your view that the urgent problem of species extinction and the conservation of biological diversity should be addressed. The first step in saving any plant or animal from extinction is to become aware of and respect the fragile ecosystems that make up our environment ... "Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I look forward to working with you for the future of our planet."
(It's strange he should talk about the ecosystem and extinction since the Texas Eagle is a TRAIN!)
"I didn't realize I was in a Buddhist temple."
