Explain to her how much she has hurt you. It's not fair that she did that. And then remember that it's okay for people to know you're not an item, because you're NOT. Maybe some sexy guy will hear and ask you out =P

I was going to say exactly what the first answer said:
don't tell your mom anything.... also now you know where
your mom's best friend/the town gossip gets all her information from - your mom. So remember: don't tell your mom anything!

it seems that your mother is also a nosey gossiper .....
I remember when I was in High School .. and one girl became pregnant... all the students in her class knew ... including me ...
BUT it was NOT my place to tell people about her situation....
She had managed to keep it from her parents.... BUT when she was about six months along .. she lost the baby and had to be rushed to Hospital ....
let's just say .. in a small town .. something like that doesn't stay a secret for long .. A few days later my mother said to me:
" Did you know Sally Jones [made up name] was pregnant and she lost the baby and her parents had to take her to hospital ???"
I said "yes I did"
Well didn't my mother get angry ... "well why didn't YOU tell ME about it"
and I said ... :
"well If it had of been ME instead of Sally Jones... Would you have liked OTHER people to be talking about ME ????"
I think what you need to do is have a long talk with your mother... explain to her that you are hurt that she broke your confidence .. and that you NEED to be able to know that you can confide in her ... and that the things you tell her are kept confidential ..
OR ELSE YOU WILL BE FORCED to confide in somebody else... SOMEBODY you KNOW you can trust.
Tell her that THAT is not something you really want to do BUT will be forced to if she blabs your private stuff again.
sometimes mother's don't always THINK before they open their mouths ( we're no different to others in that sense...)

Just express to your mom how that made you feel. Whether or not it is a big deal isn't the issue. She broke your confidence, and that is very unfair to you.

You can't undo it now. Better fess up before your best friend gets mad about hearing it from someone else.

There's nothing you can do. Everyone will know anyway when you don't go out with your boyfriend anymore.
