There are thousands of ways to read fortunes - the power is in the reader, not the focal point.

Use your tarot deck, if it's a good one. I recommend the Connolly deck for my students. Do one card readings to start. Relax, get centered, ask your question, then pull a card. Let the picture guide you - what's the first thing that pops into your mind? The first thing you notice? What does it mean to you?

If you want to try a pendulum, get a string and something heavy to tie on the end of it. Draw a circle on a piece of paper, hold it over the circle and ask it a simple yes or no question that you know the answer to. A good one to use is Am I a boy? Am I a girl? - the pendulum will move in a different direction for yes and no. When you've seen which direction is which, mark it on your paper, then proceed with your readings.

The more you read, the better you get. Eventually, you won't need the tools, although they can take less energy than an unassisted reading and tarot in particular is good to demonstrate things to the client.

Hello

There are many tools out there that you can use.

A pendulum will help you to understand what is already inside your subconscious mind, so that can be useful.

Via meditation you can channel written responses to questions.

You can use crystals for divination as well as a tool to enhance energies whilst meditating.

There are variations on tarot out there.

I ching - although more philosophical.

T - leaves can be quite affective.

As long as you can build a strong relationship with the methods that you use you will get good, direct results.

Well I just whipped out my crystal ball after not using it for awhile. You can buy a nice crystal ball and see how that works for you.
Another easy one you can do at home is reading tea leaves. Some people even coffee grounds nowdays.
I've also seen asian people using fortune-telling sticks. I assume you could buy those somewhere.
Oh yeah and the I-Ching! Some people just love it, though I have never been into it myself.

Pendulums can be as simple as a ring of yours on a looped thread or string. But I have more confidence in tarot than pendulums.

You can try scrying (clouds, water, ink, etc.), but it takes practice, lots of practice.

Bibliomancy, scrying, using a pendulum (my least favorite- if you have an unsteady hand it just ruins it)... yeah.
