p.m. is Latin for post meridiem (after noon)
12:00 is either 12:00 noon or 12:00 midnight, but cannot be a.m. or p.m. (because they are neither before noon nor after noon!)

12 midnight is AM. 12 noon is PM although technically a new "day" starts at 11:56:04 pm. the time it takes for the earth to spin once around it's axis is not exactly 24 hours

It's 12:00 pm as the second before it is 11:59:29 pm 2 seconds after that the time is 00:00:01 am [1 second past midnight.

12 o'clock midnight is just that - neither am nor pm. 1 minute past midnight however, is 12.01am. The same principle applies for 12 noon.

it AM
AM Ante Meridian which means before middle
the middle day is Noon which is 12:00:00 NN or 12:00:00 PM
a day starts at 00:00:00 AM which is midnight and
is position before the Noon.
if you count all the second from 00:00:00AM to 11:59:59
you will still get 86,400 which is also 24 hours.
