My dad was in the army and he said in his day most of the troops he knew went to Germany, I know we are in different times now and have a war going on, but is it automatic that if you join the army full time Iraq will be your new home for a while. I don't know what My M.O.S would I hope it would not be infantry

I t all depends on the MOS YOU select. Infantry, of course you will go. Every other year probably. Pharmacy tech, unlikely. Military Intelligence, you will be deployed, ALOT. Military Police- maybe. They need them here and there. But if you aren't willing to be deployed, then the military isn't for you.

Take the ASVAB, so what MOS you qualify for and make a decision from there. And just because it doens't show up as an option doesn't mean is isn't an one. I wanted a specific job, but my recruiter had never seen it show up. But he made a few calls and got me the MOS I wanted. Don't just accept what they offer. Figure out what you want to do and get it!

Infantry is not so bad, you tend to stay on your toes more than the truck drivers and file clerks that may be toting a rifle right next to you! It just a matter of paying attention to your surroundings. Going to Iraq is not automatic, but there is a good chance you may be rotated into Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Korea or even Kosovo. Any MOS could be sent anywhere, so pick something you think you'll enjoy doing.
Hint; Aviation Mechanic, you fix heliocopters, and it pays good on the outside!

Stay out of the ARMY and join the Navy, there are no oceans in IRAQ and if you pick a good job in the Navy you will never see combat. Same benefits, better food, better living. Hey, when I was in the Navy, I was stationed at a hospital and had CO-ED barracks. WOW. It was like being in college. We partied and had a good time. Can you think of any enemy that we have that could attack a ship at sea and sink it.

Yeah, Navy goes to iraq, I was deployed there for 6 months at al-asad. Hell there were even coasties there. iraq isnt that bad, just dont get stuck on patrols or convoys.

iraq isnt automatic alot of it depends where you get stations like me im at fort hood its a rapid deployment post....so if you got stationed here your chances would be alot higher than say you got stationed at fort meade or ft erwin so it really about when you go and what unit you get thrown into

EVERY MOS COULD END UP IN IRAQ, AND YOU COULD GET STATIONED ANYWHERE. MY FIRST DUTY STATION WAS KOREA....
IN THE ARMY YOU CHOOSE YOUR MOS....SO YOU DECIDE THAT MUCH
