Hahaha. I love that whole "yes, no, wait" thing that Silver espoused above. Basically, god gets credit for everything. You could pray to your refrigerator and the results would be EXACTLY the same. Man, no wonder people say prayer works - with that kind of definition its impossible for a prayer NOT to be answered!

Answer to your question: Simply put, prayer does not work.

This is why people say god heals the sick. People get sick and people regress. A cancer patient recovering (usually with the aid of modern medicine) is viewed as a prayer answered. Yet god seems to be ignoring all those terminal cases and amputees. People always remember the hits and forget the misses. They see patterns where there are none. You find your car keys - god answered your prayer. You crash your car - its a miracle you're still alive. Your child is brutally killed - the lord works in mysterious ways...

Forget praying. If you want something, do it yourself.

was this a sincere prayer????
what God promised is with faith and through him all things are possible..we will mount up on wings like eagles we shall walk and not tire the we will not grow weak or weary...what man says can not God says can...
but at the same time we pray for certain things we only see a small portion of the picture that is our life...God has the entire view, thus sometimes the thing we are praying for is the last thing we truly need...
i had a friend who wanted a baby more than anything in the world...she did not understand why she was being denied this one thing that so many who did not even believe in God were blessed with...
she did not see the many many children that she had been there for as friend confidante mentor advisor provider helper and introducer to Christ...
had she have had her own child she would never have been able to be so much for so many...and her life would not have been near as full and happy (her words now)

so maybe when you pray ...first do you really need the mountain to move..it may be keeping your home from flooding and the tree may very well be saving you hundreds in electric bills by shading your home

there is always more in the picture..just never stop talking to God that is the important thing

Because the pastor made a promise on God's behalf without consulting Him.

You have very apty shown by your example how impossible it is to grant every prayer and still keep the world running according to the laws of nature.

How would it be possible for God to answer your prayer for the mountains and trees to fly when I want Him to make them dance!

We can not control God by prayer. All we can do is to pray the AA prayer to accept the things that we cannot change, alter those that can be changed, and have the wisdom to know the difference. My prayer for us both.

Don't ever think that prayer is like rubbing the lamp and the genie grants your every wish. You put God to the test tonight- no one should do that. There are always three answers in prayer- YES, NO and WAIT. Consider prayer as much more than asking God for something- prayer is that, but remember that the most important concept of prayer is to get to know the WILL OF GOD for you, not for God to do your will.

Well Jesus says that you can move mountains with prayer WITH enough faith. I know it sounds weird because it makes it sound like faith can be measured, but I think he's saying that if you have enough faith to say... fall forward and KNOW 100% in your heart that God will catch you, only with faith like that can your prayer do such things. But also you need to consider prayers are not like wishes that a genie grants. God answers your prayers when he says it's time. So you need to just pray to God and know that he will answer your prayers, but on HIS time, nobody elses.

I hope this helps. :)

Moving mountains is a metaphor. Faith of a mustard seed isn't so much the size of the seed as it is the concentraion of faith in that seed. There is so much more to Christianity than just reading the Bible and believing in Jesus. It has everything to do with the condition of your heart, right motive, and reason. One can not fake it with God. You either are, or you aren't. Jesus will move mountains [ie move problems in your life] but you have to know and play by the laws of his kingdom. If you do, look out. Everything is possible. Unbelieveable sh*& happens.

Gods timing may not be our timing. We Americans wont everything immediately.

When a person loves God and lives a life that God will find favor with you.

God wonts your attention on Him, and yes He is capable of doing anything.

But don't test the Lord thy God.

Hon, God acts according to YOUR faith. If you have no faith you get no actions. Oh, and one more thing, God answers ALL prayers. Sometimes the answer is NO.. Hmmmmm..

Peace & God bless from Texas. <><
