i am thiinking about trying LSD (acid) for one and only time, what are the consequences?

so i would like to try out acid for just one time, just because the allucination thing sounds pretty cool. my friend told me it would kill my brain, i am a straight A student and i was told the same thing about weed (which i am an user). what are the effects of acid, is it worth it? By that i mean what happens to my brain and my body after the trip?

Wow there is a lot of propaganda here.

LSD will not kill your brain, there is no scientific evidence supporting it. LSD is not addictive and physically safe. It works because it is very similar in structure to neurotransmitters such as seritonin.

You will NOT become insane or anything of the sort. Flashbacks are put way out of proportion, they merely consist of a second of being in the state of mind you were when tripping, not to mention not many people get them. There is little visual disturbance.

It does not store itself in your fat or spinal chord or whatever the hell these people are claiming.

You cannot trip for days or weeks or whatever theese people are saying because its impossible. Everything has a half-life and so does LSD. According to the laws of science it has to end within around 12 hours.

Honestly, I think the risks aren't worth the experience. I did it probably a hundred times or so when I was in high school (and never had a bad trip), and it didn't have any permanent effects. But I had two friends who only did it a few times and have never been the same again even 10-12 years later. There's no way to tell how it will work in your particular case so its one drug I recommend people avoid.

If you really want to try a hallucinogen, maybe try mushrooms?Look up the effects first, I never bothered to check :) But I don't think that they have any permanent side effects like acid can. Acid can be a fun drug, but not fun enough to risk turning into some kind of permanent mental case.

It probably won't have any lasting effects negative on you. If you have a history of schizophrenia or other serious mental illness in your family, you might want to reconsider, since hallucinogens can trigger these things to happen sooner than they would have normally.

There are things you should know before you trip... it's not like you just see cool patterns, and you should be prepared for the ways that your thoughts will be altered. General tips I'd recommend:
- Have a friend with you who is not tripping, and knows you're tripping. Ideally, this person has done acid before.
- Drop early in the day... it can be hard to fall asleep at the end of the 8 hours, and being stuck awake can be an unpleasant end to an otherwise excellent experience.
- If you have unpleasant things on your mind, or you're just not feeling well, DON'T trip. Wait until you're feeling better. The acid will still be there.

Read through some of the info and experiences on Erowid. They will give you a good idea of what to expect. If done responsibly, acid can be totally worthwhile.

Realistically (and Rationally unlike some answers here) i would not try it. If you want to try hallucinogens try mushrooms. I personally have not tried acid and preferred natural drugs when i used to be cool. :)

Now i'm old (27) and my trippin days are gone, but back then it was SO much fun. Just make sure you're with friends and have a little green around for when you come down. I shroomed twice and both times as i came back to reality, i thought I would NEVER be normal again, but ended up graduating college with honors and have some really unreal memories of good times with friends.

Just be smart and don't go in public. Indoors, music and friends are a good recipe.

Shadows and light look great. I remembered i wanted to walk toward the sunset and the sky looked like a HUGE flatscreen TV about 20 feet over my head. The patterns in the carpet kept moving around and forming shapes. The randomness of cigarette smoke paterns very very cool too.

Woah. Dont drop acid once you merely smoked. you will probley have a foul trip considering the fact which you cant take care of it. Acid and weed are extremely diverse yet once you attempt acid now you will trip countless balls you wont be waiting to stroll. provide it it sluggish be careful reason undesirable journeys can take place dont get paranoid and dont enable for acquaintances scare you. And dont take greater desirable than 2 hits. And earlier you do it think of valuable recommendations and bypass in to a visit with happy capability that enables to stop undesirable journeys. and it will take in to an hour max to commence and reckoning on how solid the acid is you will trip 12 hours on the least

Well, I have three sons in their thirties. Just trying to say my age without putting down the number. In my days acid was clean. These days acid is dangerous. They make that stuff with who knows what. My friends son, is brain damaged by it. I have a friend whose sister tried to kill herself. Unintentionally. She didn't know what she was doing. Then again that is my words. Just think about it on all sides before you do try. Pot isn't bad. As long as you can maintain and take care of business first. Make school first. You sound like a good kid. I hope that you think first.

You will have to take a polygraph for the first four careers I listed Here are the things you will NEVER be allowed to join:

2) NASA
3) CIA

6) if convicted of a drug offense, NO STUDENT LOANS
for college
7) Denial into Military - if you tell the truth, or if you get caught

do weed and mushrooms instead bro... a billion times safer... hell weed is safer than alcohol! and probably cigarettes... but if you wanna do it, go for it... its your life... the worst that will happen is that you will go insane due to usually an overdose... other than that, it has a half life of about 3 hours in blood and longer in plasma... so the effects remain for about 6 or 7 hours... and you can have flashbacks of good times, random parts of your life, or just your worst nightmares... the psychological damage is more concerning that the physical ones... so, w/e...

Don't do it, quit the drugs and concentrate on school, your friend is dumb, and you will be too if you keep doing drugs. By the way if you get caught with LSD, it's prison time, long long prison time, hope you know how to fight, or you'll be somones girlfriend.
