Teresa is not an evil stepmother. She has done what she believed was best with DEI. The problem is there was/is no upper management with race experience. When you have bean counters running the show how can they confront an engine dept with problems? They can only ask what the problem is and go along with the departments recommendations.

Jr wanted some control over the racing decisions so he could purchase a 7 post shaker and do some of the testing Hendrick was doing. Teresa wouldn't give him any say in the racing operation. The most she offered was for her to set up a 7 member board that Jr could go to to ask for changes but he would not be able to do anything unless they approved. After this he said the only way he would stay was to have controlling interest. It had nothing to do with money and all to do with Jr being able to make some decisions regarding the racing end of the DEI business.

DEI failed to keep Jr in competitive equipment and failed to give him some say in the racing operation management so he left.

I don't know what Teresa was doing with all the money but she wasn't investing enough for the future of the race shop and her non management style had the various departments moving in their own direction at their own speed.

She has made improvements and some better decisions since Jr announced his departure but she has a 4 car team with 5 drivers and all the overhead that comes with that but only 3 sponsors. The Army is good but Pro Bass is a mid level deal and Menards isn't paying much beyond what the team itself uses. She has given up some portion of the company to Ginn and she will need more investors moving forward.

The finances were there, she just doesn't know how to run a race team, yes she is a very business savy woman..The money just wasn't put where the team needed it most. DEi was a great team up until 2-3 yrs, we all remember Jr did win races 17 of them. They did not do some things that Jr wanted he knew what it takes to be competitive. Now they have lost Jr, Hmiel, Eury Sr & Jr, and more people.. The money was there fo fix all of this...I just do not think Teresa felt he would leave, that also took a huge chunch of financial backing as well..The money has always been there, but equipment failures continued..But I feel when announced he was leaving, the #8 team got nothing but experimental stuff they were working on..For Dale Sr's sake I hope DEI doesn't fail, I hope they put more time in testing and technology..Teresa this is racing the money has to go in the right places. Jr knew where it needed to go..Due to the issues between the two, she chose not to listen...Wrong call Teresa..

Go Dale Jr & Hms in 2008

From an ownership stand?

Teresa and Dale Jr have very different visions on how a team works. Dale Jr got it and Teresa didnt. Dale Sr's exact quote to DW was... "We're doing it for the kids." For some reason when we lost Dale Sr., she lost touch with that

From the 2007 Results Stand?

DEI didnt conspire to give Jr a bad ending or bad equipment. But its a respectable theory to invest your money wisely. Why not put more effort into a team/driver/sponser thatll be there the following year, rather than a team/driver/sponser thatll be gone in 2008. Theres no incentive. But itll only make the silver lining polished for Dale Jr when he has the best seasons of his career.

Either way the inevitable occured and i took my DEI sticker off my truck and I am waiting for my #88 Hendrick Sticker.

Bad decision making on the racing end really. DEI's been slipping further and further back from the top-tier teams for a few years now. All Jr wanted was some say in how the racing operation was run, he really didn't care about the business end of it. Think about it when Jr set up JR Motorsports he got all the latest equipment for it, in fact there was DEI employees going over to the JRM shop to use his 7 post shaker(which DEI didn't get until it absorbed Ginn's operation). And think about it Jr has this stuff for 1 Busch team and 3 late model teams. Let's not forget also that a good chunk of DEI's racing braintrust(Eury Sr, Hmiel) bailed about the same time Jr did.

I think that things started getting real bad when Teresa started dating John Menard. Is it coincidence that his son also races for DEI (Paul). When you start a new relationship there is always tension with previous children. And remember she is Jr. step mother so getting rid of him is a win, win for her personal life. John Menard is worth a lot of money, and I bet you will see him starting to invest more into DEI to make it a good team, but I wouldn't rule out him buying it all together. A name change I can see being very likely to happen. So I think they did give Jr. garbage cars, no resources sent his way either. and the control he was looking for included his sister's cut as well. Considering they are the two best drivers out of all of them. Kelley is probably the best short track of them all, but she went to business school. So I am sure that the deal to keep Jr. at DEI was never in Teresa best interest or Kelley would of had Jr. sign. The only greed there was on Teresa part.

No, I think that it was just a whole combination of things that kept on getting worse rather than better. Or as some of the good ole boys would say, "just one of those racin' deals."
After the power play that he make to get control of DEI and it failed when she offered to sell it to him but not give it to him, it just seemed to go down hill for him from there. Let's face it, she was probably the brains of the company from the start and she wasn't about to turn it over to Jr, just because he wanted it. In the long run it will probably be the best for both of them that they parted ways. Look at it this way....if the old man was still alive and Jr. told him that he wanted control.......
what do you think that answer would have been?

I think it is over and done with and we should leave the past in the past. The reasons really don't matter, and it was a private matter for them. Jr. is much better off with a fresh start after all that.

Go Jr.>>>>

Blood is suppose to be thicker than water.
I can't believe his dad didn't leave written proof to cover JR's butt in case he should die, like he did.
Him leaving step mommy calling the shots has gotta hurt.
I will follow JR anywhere he should ever go...
but he should have always had the 8.
She is evil to run him and his sister off.
