i have an hp pavilion dv6000, vista is saved to the hard drive instead of on a cd. i know how to reload vista so that it clears my entire system, which is what i want to do. but how do i open up the screen to do this? my desktop at home tells me to press a button when its starting up but this laptop does not.

Dooooon't load Vista!!! But if you must, then there is probably an option (like F10) that will allow you to select the boot device... if it's not obvious then you'll probably need a tool that will allow you to boot to the second partition on your hard drive where the recovery is stored. HP should be able to guide you through it

You need to boot up your system and press the key that opens up your systems install window.

so boot up the system... 5 seconds or less into the boot up. press the key that takes you into the install window and go from there

or go to hp's website and put in your computers details.. for your model and download the manual and print it out... so you can follow the instructions
