my son has been using pine tar soap for a lil over a month now. it has really helped clear it up. he had it really bad. huge sores on his face, back and some on his arms and chest. you can get it thru your pharmacy. it costs about $4 a bar and a bar can last 3-4 wks.

OMG... Soooo many people think that if they buy the most expensive products, and slap on the strongest creams, their acne problems will be fixed.

Actually, these ppl are over-processing their skin. The skin becomes irritated, and often dry. The pores produce excess oil to replenish the skin, which in turn leads to MORE breakouts.

Before you go to an expensive dermatologist, I suggest trying a gentle, unscented soap. (Dove soap is the BEST... it's what I use!!!) Use it to wash your face (twice a day) with warm water. You might even want to use a gentle scrubber with it to exfoliate dry skin and allow the fresh skin underneath to breathe.

For spot treatments, and a once-daily application, (like, before bedtime) I recommend benzoyl peroxide cream. Clean 'n Clear makes it really cheap! You can buy the stuff almost anywhere... it's sold under many different brand names.
I bought mine for about three bucks at Wal-Mart. lol.

Good luck!

Tried all the medical crap. And tried all the other stuff too. My daughter found an article that said to rub eggs whites on your face and let it dry. Then, lightly rinse it off. She does that once a day. Cleared up her face real good. But remember, what works for some may not work for you. When it comes to acne, it's triggers vary from one person to the next. Stress, intense emotional responses, food triggers, anything could bring on the acne. Finding what is going to work takes a committment to the regimin. It's something you have to stick to faithfully every day and sometimes as much as 3 times a day.

Acne has a very simple cure most people are not aware of. Just wash your face with water and a soap if possible. Apply Calamine on your face all over and leave it for a few hours or as long as you want. Calamine is actually a beauty base for face. But has magical properties. Apply calamine for a few days and you will see the acne just stops in 4 to 6 days. You can read more at http://mathewstw.110mb.com/theories.html

Some doctors prescribe acutane which is a drug that has many side effects - one of which is suicidal thoughts. That is just too scary. My daughter went on the birth control pill which cured her acne - but if you are a guy, that isn't possible.

Another method I have read about is changing your diet. Read this link and it will explain about avoiding certain foods that can contribute to acne such as breads, caffine, sugars - you know, all the fun stuff! Read these two links and just see if you are eating these things and try to change your diet for a month and see what happens.

Some products work well on different skin types. I hear Proactive does not work on some people. Nature's Cure is pretty good if you haven't tried it. But seeing a dermatologist will be good and worth the money. It's their job to treat these sever cases. Stop stressing out, this will cause you to break out even more. Good luck!

Chances are that if topical treatments aren't working to clear up your acne you may have an overload of toxins in your body. Perhaps your liver or other organs are so intoxicated with build-up that they are pushing the toxins out in other ways... sweat and acne. This happened to me. I had to do a cleanse. I bought one at the health food store and it helped immensely. You may also have a thyroid issue there... Are you tired all the time? Are you skinny regardless of your bad eating habits ect? look into it deeper. Your body is telling you something.

take acutane. i had the same problem and i ended up taking this med. it was tough cuz it really dried up your skin, but well worth it im now acne clear, just have a few scars but nothin big. you should goto your dermatologists and ask if you can get on this stuff. well worth it. there is also this topical called ziana which i think works well atleast on my skin u coud try that but acutane is more of long term resolution, cuz its been a year and still no signs of acne, or backne either

They will probably give you a prescription for your face.

Some reason I had bad acne back in my early 20's.

Now that I am 30. I have been on a hormonal pill. So it has cleared up alot.

Hey there, I understand where you're coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was quite embarrassing and like you, I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, over the counter medications, and even shots to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn't matter as much.

What I found out after lots of research and trial and error is this.

It's not a topical issue, it doesn't help much to treat it from the outside, it's an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it's like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You'll hear from many people that's not the case, and it's usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven't experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as mentioned in one of the answers above) your blemishes come back... because you're not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines add up month after month.

If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get breakouts, rashes, or other skin irritations? It's usually because of something we ate, something that wasn't meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.

Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what's on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you're eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones... literally a great number of things.

Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the junk and processed foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is really key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times) and lots during the day. I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.

I followed the regimen in these two books I found:
http://tinyurl.com/ytwdao
and
http://tinyurl.com/2rreqd

I took the ideas from both and put together what worked for me the best. I decided instead of doing it one time to clear it up, I made it into a lifestyle where acne would never be an issue for me again. Literally in a few weeks all my blemishes disappeared and haven't returned for over 3 years now. I don't use anything on my face other than water and a natural bath get once in a while. My normally oily and blemished skin turned smooth, soft and clear and I regularly get positive comments on how my skin looks.

This also worked for everyone I've recommended it to and in particular my neighbors 14 year old daughter, her face cleared up in about 3.5 weeks (she was eating quite poorly) and was ecstatic over the results without all the lotions, potions and monthly expenses.

Hope this helps. All the best you!

Acne or pimples are usually a result of hormonal changes and an irregular and increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.
