There is no negative side effects to praying- it is the most positive thing that a person can do- however if you do not have a personal relationship with Christ you would not understand that. Praying is just not going to God to "get something from Him", To me prayer has become so much more than requests- prayer is having communication with the living God- ok some of you will say I am crazy that I hear God speaking- but those of us who know Christ, we do know His voice, if we take the time to listen.

Positive:- we could pull down all the churches and build much needed housing. We could do a lot with the wealth of the churches, feed a lot of starving children for example. I wonder why they arent doing that now? The main positive aspect would be all the mixed sects within religion would be abolished. The churches would not be able to interfere with the elected goverment, and put pressure on folk about contraceptive, abortion cell research, boozing gambling , No more holy places for the total nutters that preach violence. Right I could go on forever, but thats enough to be going on with?? OK now negative? No good I cant think of a thing ! People will still be able to pray, they can believe in God as much as they like, but they can do it in private , Oh yes I just thought of one negative aspect I dont think Muslims will be very pleased when some holy places are demolished, religious or not. Ah well just a dream , but one day...............

We are told to pray without ceasing. This means that we can pray anywhere at anytime.
I believe that God has called certain people to pray about certain situations for a season.
Your friend may just be tired. I would say that praying should not have any negative effects on your friend.

I pray in the morning and at dinner time. When someone is sick or dies I pray. nothing wrong with praying. I am not as consistant as you say your friend is but, I would say if he prays that much & you see no more spark in his eyes, he maybe tired!
God knows our needs, we do not need to be obsessed with it, he does like us to talk to him and go to him in need. I give him credit for that but, yes he needs to rest and get recharged once in a while and actually live some life here on Earth.

there s no such thing as praying too much, but if you expect a certain answer and it's not what God wants, it can get frustrating. if he ever expresses that he thinks God just isn't listening, he's mistaken. God hears every prayer. He answers every one of them too. we just have to be on the lookout for the answer, because it might not be what we expect.

Sore knees and hands, hoarse voice. It sounds to me as though your friend may have OCD ( obsessive-compulsive disorder) Its a dysfunctional way of coping with anxiety, guilt and stress, and he probably needs to see a Dr. It can get worse, but there are drugs to treat it now. Good luck.

Praying is fun especially when you see Jesus as your best friend. Don't we all like to talk to our friends. Praying draws a person closer to Jesus and changes our lives, makes us more content and happy.

Religiosity and possible disappointment because all that prayer wasn't answered ... People don't understand that outward prayer is good but your spirit prays constantly ...What he needs to find is balance or he will lose his interest in everything..There is one thing to die to self and serve God's will for ones life but God never said to be out of balance..To be overly spiritual is to be no earthly good.....

i'd say just expecting too much and wanting everything too badly and then being disappointed or even feeling betrayed when they don't get everything they want. But as long as they understand that even God can't do EVERYTHING and can see and appreciate the blessings that they do receive, i think it's fine.
