have you ever fallen out of love with a long term partner and look back over your relationship with them and kicked yourself for how much time and effort you devoted to them because you couldn't see them for what they were because you were so in love with them?? and does it effect you now when meeting new people??

it is not a waste of time as such because you learn form your 'mistakes', or from your experiences. love is so blind, because you never see anything for what it really is, and then sometimes you look back and think god why on earth did i even bother at times. the easiest thing is to just move on and forget about the past. it can affect meeting other people because you will still have it stuck in your mind what your other partner was like.

Sure I have I wasted yeaers with that man However, I also learned a lot about myself and who am because of it. I will not mae the same mistakes and I have grown as a person
Does it affect me now when meeting new people Yes I am more cautious but I was determined not to let it undermine my ability to love whole heartedly and it didn't. Ask my SO

Yes, it kills me. I wasted two years of my life. Well, I wouldn't call it a waste, because I was in love..but I wish I would've skipped that mistake. I look for his characteristics in others when I meet them, and I tend to stay away from those who remind me of him. I'm not sure if this is because Is till care about him a little bit, or because I hate him? But I definitely see where you are coming from.

LOve was never blind to me Its most probably the reason why I am still married to the same man for 42 yrs

i understand your point, but i always take people at face value and try not to judge, there's nothing worse than a bitter and twisted person!! you shouldn't tarnish all with the same brush
