I cannot be as thorough as you like without revealing Masonic secrets - though I am not a Mason, my father was, and I have read his books on Morals and Dogma. Briefly, however, you do not have to be a Christian to be a Mason, but you will be a better Mason if you are a Christian. The Masonic order began as a Christian movement - and belief in a divine Creator is an essential tenet. Most of the founding fathers were Masons. The movement emerged out of a union of the trade guilds of the late middle ages and the founding of the Knight's Templars who were organized to defend prilgims on the road to the Holy Land during and after the period of the crusades. In the beginning they exemplified and devoted themselves to the highest ideals of knighthood -- chivalry, courtesy etc.

You could be part of a sect, but not part of the Catholic Church:
Pope Leo XIII, Dall’Alto (# 2), Oct. 15, 1890: “It is needless now to put the Masonic sects upon their trial. They are already judged; their ends, their means, their doctrines, and their action, are all known with indisputable certainty. Possessed by the spirit of Satan,
whose instrument they are, they burn like him with a deadly and implacable hatred of Jesus Christ and of His work; and they endeavor by every means to overthrow and
fetter it.”
It’s a well known fact that Communists and Freemasons made organized efforts to infiltrate the Catholic Church. They sent large numbers of their own men into the priesthood hoping to weaken and attack her by moving these men to high positions.
Can you be a Christian to be a mason? no.. Can you be a member of a christian sect and be a mason? ONly if you are confused.

Of course. The original Christianity was more Masonic than Christian. A better question is: Can you be a mainstream Christian and Christian?

Refer to these sites for starters: http://www.bibleprobe.com/freemasonry.htm
http://www.bibleheadquarters.org/MasonryVSChristianity.html
You can be a Christian and Mason however, you must consider that Our God is indeed a jealous God. The worship, practices, and principles of Freemasonary eventually crosses the line. You can only chose to serve one deity, God not a Worthy Grand anything. Although, there are some teachings that resemble those of Christianity be wise of false prophets.

I think all you have to do (religiously speaking) to be a Mason is believe in some type of higher power. My father is one. And he isn't really a Christian. He's been the master of his lodge for quite awhile now. And he will never tell me what they do in their meetings! I always make fun of him and tell him they must be the guys who stamp the Ms on M&Ms.

These days you can be anything you like, whether you offend people or not.You can be a Christian and despise Catholics, saying they are not Christian and feel comfortable about it even though they are offending God.They only look after themselves and take pride in the knowledge that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

No because the masonics have demonic beliefs. You need to renounce it, repent and run away as quickly as possible.
