Either some shredded cheddar cheese or some cut up left over chicken. And then croutons!

I don't know about cream of broccoli, but when I make cheese and broccoli soup I always use broccoli, cheese, butter, milk, and No Salt by Morton (the only ingredient is potassium). Not only is it better FOR YOU than salt, it actually has a good flavor when mixed with the other ingredients. It's deeeeee---lish.

you can add all of the things listed but before you add. make your cream soup base tasty i use whole milk or half and half. add some chicken base salt and pepper butter(and i mean butter) oleo is a synthetic . when ever you make soup or gravy the base or broth is the most important taste often add salt and pepper. crushed red pepper adds punch, but add and taste don't kill it. cheese and broccoli are a natch together but use a cheese that melts and not clumps American is best for melting. Monterrey adds age and melt. puree cauliflower is a good add to broc.
if the sauce is good the dish will be good experiment and taste often.....most of all have fun

I dont know what you already have in it. ham is my other main ingredient in my brocolli soup. It gives it a good taste, and adds a little salt, so i dont have to add too much salt to it.
