I have a male cat who is about 4 or 5 years old he showed up on my door step a few years back. He does have leukemia but that has not been a problem yet. Yesterday he got lethargic and refused to eat I took him to the vet and she discovered he had a fever of 104 and a abscessed gland under his jaw on his neck so she drained it and gave him a shot of penicillin.
She also believes he has a blood parasite and she is treating him with antibiotics. This morning he is feeling better he is eating again and going outside for a short time.
His gland is still very swollen and now his jaw is swollen also the swelling seems to have stopped his eye is not swollen shut I am just wondering if this swelling is normal after it was drained and he was put on antibiotics?

Antibiotics don't work overnight so you have some days to go to see if they are doing their job. Just keep in touch with the vet and keep an eye on the swelling.
I really would keep him inside till he is cleared of his symptoms.

We just lost a kitty to feline leukemia. It sounds like your guy's leukemia is active, sadly--keep a close eye on him, and don't let him outside. Is he breathing okay?? Our kitty had to be put to sleep because he could hardly breathe. I wish you all the best with your leukemia guy--and you're wonderful for taking care of him!!

I lost a meow to Leukemia and feline Aids...your kitty seems to be doing better but do not let him outside....he is sick as it is..you dont want outer environmental factors to attribute to him getting sick again..
I hope he continues to get better.
