I am a former EOD officer. I had a female EOD tech in my detachment. Navy Special Operations is one of the few "special" fields that do allow women in. They women have to meet the same standards as the men do, and are expected to pull their load. With a few exceptions, all the female EOD techs I have met have been excellent.

And yes, they do the same jobs as the guys - demolitions, jumping, diving, shooting, driving, etc.

Feel free to email me any questions.

Either you approach with a depth of experience and you are able to demonstrate that experience or you go sign up, let the "big wheel" spin and take what is offered. What is offered usually begins with a lot of paint scraping and grunt work. The Navy pretty much has its choice of geniuses and capable candidates for masters of trades. Just by your submitting this means you are far down in the list of prospects. If you are ****-hot in something, they will find you.

Go see the recruiter! If you test in the top 10%, you may even be treated a little special. Toss the dice and make us all proud. You may just get what you want.

I have never noticed any job restrictions for women in the Navy EOD career field.

If you're going Navy EOD, I wish you well, that's one of the hardest career fields in the military

I didn't even know the Navy had EOD. I know that women can serve as EOD in the Army - and there is a huge signing bonus (something like $30,000 the last I checked) for enlisting with that MOS.

Do you have a background in demolition? Can you handle the intensity of the job? Are you physically able? See your Navy Recruiter.
