Interesting answers to say the least. Jesus was real and did exist. Secular and biblical history support his life, death, and resurrection.

Throughout the Gospels Jesus claimed to be the Son of God which according to the Jewish leaders was equal to being God. In their reasoning and interpretation of the Torah, Jesus was guilty of blasphemy which is punishable by death. Every time he claimed to be from God and equal to God, they tried to seize him and stone him to death.

Having said this, his resurrection is the cornerstone of his testimony. Prove him wrong and that he did not rise from the grave and you have completely destroyed the Christian and Jewish faith.

By the way, logic and reasoning have everything to do with every question and answer you give. If I told you to jump off a bridge, would you ignore the logical reasoning that told you not to jump because you could be seriously hurt or even die. It is unfortunate that so many people don't think before they act out

Jesus of Nazareth was not a lunatic, nor was the son of the god mentioned in the torah.

In the early 30's AD, Jesus was one of the many men who claimed to be the messiah promised in the torah, so many people flocked to him as their savior from the cruel Roman Empire. The reason the Jews hated Rome was because the Jews could never sit still. There were a total of three major Jewish insurrections against Rome and countless minor uprisings. Thus, the Roman Empire was forced to repeatedly send legions over to Judaea to quell the rebellions.

Jesus had predecessors and successors who all claimed to be the messiah, including but not limited to Judas son of Hezekiah (~4bc), Honi the Circlemaker (~10ad), and Simon Bar-Kokhba (~130ad). Some of these people were actually more successful than Jesus in convicing people that he was the messiah. For some reason, Jesus is the one everyone remembers today, I'm not sure why. I also don't know if he ever claimed to be the son of god himself, or if that was just made up by one of his followers. Anyways, the Romans saw him as a traitor and a danger to the stability of the region, and with good reason. Thus, they did the logical thing and executed him, making him a martyr. And then you know the rest, blah blah blah Christianity.

But he was a real person, no doubt about that. There has been archaelogical evidence that Jesus did exist.

Jesus was an Alien sent to Ee-Arth to teach our precambrian asses to be good and balance the force. YEs the Force Exists..But not like Star wars. The Force is 2. Benevolence * Malevolence. With his teachings we have learned the basics... Right & Wrong & Etc. Jesus is king and always will be. No matter who he was son of god or not, He taught this world many things, and showed us the way of life for many people. I don't really know if he was Alien.. But one thing is certain... ALiens are out there.. On the Moon, & on Saturn.
ALIENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! lol.

mdell7 is completely wrong. The Jewish historian Joesphus, one of the most important historians in the first century AD talks about Jesus of Nazareth and Christianity

and the post above me is faulty logic. There are many prominent historical figures who we only know of through indirect, or third party witness. The earliest records of Alexander the Great were found hundreds or years after he lived, and we don't doubt him. Attila the Hun never left a peronsal diary. Neither did Hanibal. A lot of figures from the times BC and early AD did not leave direct evidence of their existence.

Jesus was the Son of God. Why? Because if you know your history, the jews people were the majority around the the first century. That is why in the Bible, Paul (Saul before) persecuted the gentiles because the believed in Jesus. He changed from persecuting to preaching. So if they found him he could have been stone to death. Peter was hanged because he was preaching the word. So people were killed if the government official found out that a person was preaching about Jesus. So the people were risking their lives in order to convert others. That is why Jesus is the Son of God and King of Kings. No one would risk dying in order to preach the Truth. Not even those who believe in evolution would die for the cause or those people who claim to be athiest would die for their cause. Not trying to make fun of athiest or evolutionist, but you can't do anything with out go. When you awake, God allows you to awake because we are not promise tomorrow.

Jesus. The evidence of his physical existence on this planet is limited to third party accounts with physical copies that can be dated to no later than several hundred years after he was supposed to have died. Most of these accounts conflict with each other and do not correspond directly to known events within the corresponding historical records of the Roman Empire.

Therefore, Jesus is a fictional character making your question irrelevant.

Okay repubocrat double check me
===========================
None of writings of Josephus mention Jesus except ONE and it cannot be dated before the 9th century...they appear to be an insertion of the church which controlled the Greek text at the time. No secondary source can authenticate the Jesus text attributed to Josephus....

Basically you believe what you want to believe and don't look any further...they can't even validate the tax collection that supposedly put Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem...how basic is that!!

Open your eyes, man. Alexander the Great does NOT have text claiming to quote him as the SON OF GOD and millions of blind followers demanding that we accept their English translations of his latter followers as the word of GOD.

Dear Lord, tell me you see the difference.

So...what I'm hearing you say between the lines is that Jesus wasn't anymore important to your GOD than Alexandar the Great and other "important" historical figures...seems a little odd for the son of GOD to have no mention of him in the historal record that can't be challanged by authories on the subject.

I certainly do not think Jesus claimed to be the 'Son of God' because he never actually claimed it. In Mark, Mark claims him to the Son of God by "The begining of the gospe about Jesus Christ, the Son of God". This was written by Mark and so Mark and Christians will believe that this statement was actually made by Jesus ( As in since the Bible says it that I should believe it).

Jesus was who He claimed to be by defying the laws of physics and nature in the presents of thousands of eyewitnesses without any documentation refuting these "miracles".

I prefer to think of him as a hero, albeit a cult leader, who selflessly put himself forward as a scapegoat in order to prevent the Romans doing a massacre on his people (the Jews). I'm going to get a load of thumbs down for this from both sides but that's the way I do see it. I am an atheist by the way.
