Question

I work at a hospital as a porter (someone who collects trays and works in the dishroom) and tonight I had to collect from rooms in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and CCU (Central Care Unit).

I saw so many people so ill and hooked up to machines and I felt like I wanted to cry. It's so depressing and to see families in such pain and sadness.

So regardless of your faith or spiritual sense, please join me and pray for all those who are suffering in the hospital, in hospice, the families and friends of these patients, and blessings to all the hard working hospital staff (esp doctors and nurses) who work to keep these people better so they can live another day!

And for those dying tonight, let's pray them a safe passage to The Other Side/Heaven/Afterlife....

Thank you DavidtheGameFreak, I am feeling better now, it's just that it was the first time I ever been at that post, i'm usually in the rehab/less critical areas, so it came as a little shock to me.

It will be an honor to pray for the people that are suffering. You are such a caring person. I will pray for you and those who are in pain,also for their family's. I know first hand how suffering can effect someone. I have a daughter that is in pain all the time. I am so glad that you are such a loving christian person. We need more people out there like you. I will pray that the Lord brings joy to your heart also. I will also pray for those tending to the poor sick and painful people . May the Lord ease their pain and suffering. This time last year, I was in ICU 24/7 with my younger brother. He was taken off life support after 8 days for the transplant team to still be able to harvest.
It was horrible but I am so grateful to have had some time with him for family and friends to gather and let it sink in.
The nurses, phlebotomists, porters, janitors...All were such unbelievably wonderful, considerate, caring people and I will never forget them or their kindnesses...
You may feel helpless or a bit intrusive while doing your duties in such a tense environment, but your smile or even sympathetic eyes are of great comfort...
Bless you for your post and for doing what you do.

Why waste the time. Studies have shown that prayer has no effect at all on people's outcome.

Face it, if prayer worked we would not need the doctors and the hospitals would we.

Be thankful that you live in a time where science has progressed far enough that these people are in ICU and CCU (That is usually Critical Care BTW, sometimes Coronary Care)

50 years ago most would be in the morgue by now. This is not thanks to god, but thanks to men, women and science.

If you want to help, campaign to keep religion out of the way of scientific research (like stem cell research) and let the doctors and nurses get the resources and research they need to help keep people out of the hospitals in the first place, and to help get people out of the morgues and into the ICUs and CCUs where they can leave the hospital standing up rather than in a pine box.

I appreciate your concern and kind-heart for the suffering people in Hospitals.

I will pray for them and for their families. Our Lord experienced the pains of human life and He is aware of the sorrows of humankind. He is able to heal any one for He is a heavenly doctor.

What a wonderful place to be and see the needs as you serve the Lord Christ and can intercede on their behalf~ surely you are there in behalf of Jesus and the Holy Spirit can give you the right words for each and every situation

I've seen enough of life to know what your talking about. I will join you. I don't really do it that often, but my moms also works at a hospital and I know what your definatly talking about. But I really never get that sad anymore. To keep people from being sad to i will join you. But please try and cheer up. It's the holidays. It's a time for joy. If you smile and feel joy other people will too.

Father God, I know that you hear us. Please hear me now. My God who is in Heaven, Look upon your children Lord. Spare them suffering. Lord.,strengthen them, God.Guide the hands of those that care for them. Lord let them give the best effort they can. Lord Please take hold and don`t let go. I would also like to add their families. Lord, God, You know the way they are hurting God. I pray Peace for them as ONLY you can give.. Lord, I also want to bring to your attention to the folks who do care for them. I was once one of those patients hooked up to the machines pressing the morphine button... I know. I will pray. It breaks my heart all those that suffer. For whatever reason. Suffering sucks. How do you stay strong?

That is a beautiful thought. Remember that some of those recieving treatment will get better, thanks to the hard-working people who care for them. I know its hard, but you are so kind to do the work that you do.

Thank you....and I will. I have a sister who works in pediatric ICU...and it is terribly sad all year...but especially now.
