Ron Paul is not a libertarian. He calls himself a Republican.
I think he's too reactionary personally, and I agree with the first answerer that he reminds me of Ross Perot.
Ron Paul wants America to be completely isolationist. I'm sorry but in today's world that is simply not possible. Whether anyone likes it or not, what America does impacts the entire world. We can't just haul in the troops, build some fences, lock the doors, toss away the keys and say "you're on your own now!"
Have you heard some of his speeches? They are nothing but soundbite after soundbite. "Get the government out of your pocketbook," etc etc etc. "why build bridges in Iraq when our own infrastructure is falling down." He plays to the negative emotions of people's hearts, to things like greed and selfishness, and gets people rilled up in a bad way.
He doesn't have a prayer of winning.

I'm all for the Libertarian view on social rights, but the rest of his policies go against my political ideology.
Ron Paul is a very interesting fellow.

This should be in the Politics section, but I'll answer anyway:
He's in a class of his own, it seems, not fitting nicely into the mainstream left-right paradigm. Whether this is good or bad, I'll leave it up to you to decide.

I think so. He doesn't believe in global warming, which pisses off the liberals, and he doesn't believe in the Iraq war which pisses off the conservatives.

He reminds me too much of Ross Perot.
No fault of his own, I guess, but I can't see someone like that being the one to rescue the U.S. from its current state. I'm much more impressed by competence than by enthusiasm.
