Well....the church I attend, there is a paid janitor position and that position is held by a man.

I guess you don't clean...too bad...you and your house must stink. As far as bake sales....you better not bake if you don't clean.

Repressed? If Catholic women were being repressed, they would not be allowed to do things like clean the Church and cook for bake sales.

In the Church, if a woman chooses to take part in these activities, they can. Likewise, any men who wish to clean the Church or make baked goods can do so as well.

Therefore, I don't see any evidence of repression in the Church, certainly not in the same manner as you see it anyway.

What? I'm Catholic and I don't feel repressed. We don't have bake sales and men as well as women clean the church. Also, there are women who read passages of the Bible in the liturgy at mass. They assist the priest. We are Christians and Christianity elevates women to a high position. Sadly, the same thing can't be said of other religions.

No, women are not oppressed in the Catholic Church (at least, I think you mean "oppressed" and not "repressed.")

Women have many important roles in the Catholic faith. Three of the Doctors of the Church -- people who wrote doctrinal works -- are women, and at least half the canonized saints are women.

Yes, women have many service roles in the Church. That's because the Church is all about serving others. The priesthood is a role of service too -- it's not about prestige. It's about sacrificing your WHOLE LIFE to serve others, dying to yourself and living for Christ.

I really don't think the Church forces them to do those things.

I am not Catholic, but I have cleaned my Church as a service to God. As for the bake sells... its probably better for everyone if don't bake. ;o)

No, we're not. I don't know who cleans the church, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were both men and women.

Why are you so intent on seeing sexism?

How do you feel

Goddessy..........yours may be one of the same...religion doesn't play a factor in cheating.

Repressed in more ways than one I hear. Maybe that is why their Catholic husbands cheat on them so much.

Yes. The Christian bible states that women are worth half of men several times, and that women aren't as good as men as well. That women should be subservient to all men etc.
