Either ur tranny is going to **** or the noise your hearing is a knock. a knock is when the piston gets loose and knocks against the cylinder. Can be very bad. Can lead to a blown head gasket or some other worse stuff. Does your engine shift very hard? if it does its the tranny. Fords and Dodges are notorious for having bad trannys and blowing head gaskets i would get it looked at A.S.A.P

The 5.4 does NOT have a timing belt as the cams are chain driven and if the chain broke the engine would not run and would have bent valves. I would guess the other posters are correct, that a spark plug has come loose or blown itself out of the threads. If a sparkplug has indeed blown itself out the threads in the cylinder head will have to be repaired and this will cost a few bucks. Hope this helps!

First check your oil in you transmission. When you check it look to see if the fluid is red or brown. If it's red it probably good. If its brown it's burned. You may also need to change the screen in your transmission, when you do look to see if there are any pieces of metal shavings. If you see shavings it's not good, it means your gears are worn. If you still have the problem after you change the screen and the transmission fluid. See your mechanic.
