Muslims celebrate Eid Al Fitr(3 day holiday @ the end of Ramadan) as a way of breaking the month long fast they are required to do every Ramadan. Fasting in Ramdan has many medical and spritual benefits. It's a way for Muslims to thank ALLAH(Subhanna wa ta'ala) for everything HE has provided us(life, clothes, a mate, children, food, money) and is also a way for us to remember the poor people who often go days with very little food or without any food.
Muslims celebrate Eid Al Adha(4 day holiday) to commemorate Abraham's(PBUH*) willingness to sacrifice Ishmael(PBUH*) for ALLAH(Subhanna wa ta'ala).
