Air Force guidance:
Excessive tattoos/brands will not be exposed or visible (includes visible through the uniform) while in uniform. Excessive is defined as any tattoo/
brands that exceed 1/4 of the exposed body part and those above the collarbone and readily visible when wearing an open collar uniform. Members should not be allowed to display excessive tattoos that would detract from an appropriate professional image while in uniform.
Air Force members with tattoos not meeting an acceptable military image should be required to (a) maintain complete coverage of the
tattoos using current uniform items (e.g. long-sleeved shirt/blouse, pants/slacks, dark hosiery, PT running suit, etc.) or (b) remove tattoo(s).

Wow! That tattoo is hella awesome! You can have tattoos in the military. If they're on your forearms and you have your uniform sleeves rolled up, they can't cover more than 25% of the visible area of skin showing. I have a tattoo on each forearm and I made it through no problem at all. (so far, but I've gone through MEPS and everything..)

As one with tattoos and military background, let me suggest keeping all tattoos above the elbows, above the knees and below the neck.
Also, tattoos will make you stand out in Basic, something you don't want to do.

Not saying you should go for it or wait. But I would wait until after you get through basic and AIT until you get a tattoo. Tattoo's are something you should put a great deal of time and thought into. Once you complete training then think about it. Your opinion may change. You could go with a temporary tattoo for now and think about it for a while. Good luck with the decision.

wait until your done with training because if they find out that you have one and you didnt tell them before you left you can get in trouble. they actually have to draw where you have tattoos and give an example of what it looks like.
but---since that isnt what you asked...
the rules are that you cant have them on the back of your neck, or on your hands. basically..you cant have them anywhere that it would be visible while in ACU's or your dress uniform. good luck!

Pretty much anywhere from the neck down that is visible when wearing the dress uniforms is off limits. My friend is in the army and he a tattoo on each inner forearm and they let him keep them. He had some on his knuckles but those had to be removed. Try asking your recruiter....every branch is different.

Each service branch has their own rules. I would seriously consider not getting one until you are actually on Active Duty. Even then, do not get one that is visible when wearing a short-sleeve shirt. It does not help your opportunities.
