My understanding of the Universe is that "God did do it" and that in no way interferes with my investigation into the Creator's machinations, that is the inner workings or quantum physics for any pseudo intellectuals out there. Life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved, therefore mysteries are a part of my life. Many things I can not even know, as my brain doesn't have the capacity. Some things like non-physical reality, my brain CAN conceptualize.I would like to know what god did that so enraged you. if god is everything, he must be of the dark side too. without wars there would be no generals or brave soldiers, no disease? no doctors or famous surgeons, death and birth are just two sides of same coin,

Very true. The issue is avoided by saying that God is infinite and has always existed.
Well, isn't that just too easy? There's a name for that sort of evasion. Deus ex machina.
When you explain something complex with something even more complex, and do not explain THAT, what have you explained? Absolutely nothing. It is supremely, even divinely, unhelpful.
We are left with a choice. Accept our ignorance, and start from there to build up an understanding of the universe based upon observations and intuitive deduction via the self-corrective scientific method.
Or surrender ourselves to our ignorance and end the investigative process there with an unsatisfying yet somehow final answer. Hmm.

Attributing anything to God is an admission that you don't know and you don't feel any particular need to find out. Since religious belief structures have been set in stone, the gathering of new information is counteractive to their cause. There will never be real scientific evidence that supports literal interpretation of the Bible. Some even have the idea that there are some things we're better off not knowing for sure; that there is an advantage in belief over knowledge. It seems odd to me, but to each his own.

..."God did it" improve our knowledge or understanding of the Universe?
It improves our understanding by acknowledging the source.
When I was a kid my friend Matt would come over and we would have choc chip cookies and watch He-Man on t.v.
He asked how I got the cookies I said Mom Made them. He said how and we went and asked her.
Could you see a couple of kids pulling apart chocolate chip cookies and trying to figure out how they were made without mom's input. A cookie is quite simple compared to the universe.
I know God baked up the universe and I am enjoying my share of the treat. When I get to my father's house I will be asking how he made it.
Science rocks and God is the source.
The bible said the earth was round before man figured it out. Isaiah 40:22
Ask the creator.

In any way.
Accepting the existence of a creator god is similar to lost a battle.

This man explains by science HOW God did it:

Like some of his predecessors, such as Galileo, Copernicus, Kepler and Newton - a bunch of poor, ignorant Christians.

I have been thinking it is just a hold over to why do the stars come up at night. God did it. When they can't explain something it is just easier to give God the kudos and move on with your life. I got a new job today... Praise God. Thank you God. My wife is pregnant. Praise God, thank you Jesus for blessing us. Oops, my mistress is pregnant. Damn you Satan, you tricked me.

You know what? Saying and admitting God is real and did do everything I know He's done, has improved my knowledge of existence. He opened a whole new world for me and for that I do praise Him.
