Our 4 month old kitty just got neutered today. They said not to let him lick that area, but I he keeps doing it. I can't stay up all night to stop him. Does anyone have advise on what I can do to prevent him from wanting to lick it?

Did they not give you an odd-looking collar for the animal to wear so that it cannot reach the incision? We always get those. They have them at most large pet stores. Are any still open?

I know you probably don't want to do this- But you may have to get him an Elizabethan collar, which is pretty much a plastic collar that flares out too wide for him to lick himself.

Elizabethan collar!!! They hate it, but they can NOT lick!!!
If you're creative, you may be able to make one - since you'll only need it for a few days anyway.
Check out this site - it may give you some ideas!
You may be able to make one out of cardboard, but be sure that it's not too heavy or hurting their neck.

My cat did that when we got him fixed. He only did it a couple of times and then I guess he realized it hurt so he didn't do it as much.
