3 years ago or so I never would have guessed I'd be where I am now.

I thought there would be peace in the Middle East, or at least we would not be at war there.

I thought a Democrat would be in the White House.

I thought that there would be no such thing as global warming.

I thought that poverty would be much better controlled.

I thought my partner would still be alive.

And I thought Americans would speak better English.

BUT ...

I also thought that there would never be gay marriage anywhere in the world.

I thought that I would never own my own home.

I thought that I would be excessively lonely after my partner died.

And I'm glad that these have not come true.

Ha! No, I thought I would have been better off financially, I would have thought my professional life would be different, BUT the things that turned out BETTER than I could have hoped are my children and my walk with the Lord, my faith, and my church family ties are stronger than I imagined.

Nope, i thought i would be married with kids. I couldn't have been more wrong.
