Its broken. Gravity and water are the leading killers of digital cameras. Abuse - dropping it or getting it wet - is not covered by the warranty. You cannot buy an in-store warranty on a 5 month old camera and even if you could it wouldn't cover a damaged one.

Repairs will likely exceed the cost of a new camera so you may as well use this one as a paperweight and begin shopping for a new one. Use a wrist strap or neckstrap with your new camera.

Neglect is usually not covered by any warranty. Your best bet is to not lie about and switch cameras. That is not easy to do, besides you do not need the bad karma.

Just let them send it to the company under the warranty and if it is that bad the company may send you a replacement. While that is happening disposable cameras are a good thing to use in the mean time. Unless, of course you can afford to get another camera. It is always good to have a back up! Stores should be giving deals as well as internet sites. Good Luck and keep taking good pictures!

Best Buy will send the camera to the manufacturer's service department.

They will determine whether it stopped working because of a manufacturing defect, or because of something you did.

If it's #1, they will repair or replace the camera

If it's #2, you are out of luck and you'll have to buy a new camera.

Hope this helps.

I say buy a new one a newer camera would work better because it never fell on the ground, because usually when they fix it, it will have problems afterwards

it's not broken, it just isn't working?

It probably isn't working because it's broken. Eat the cost of the camera and buy a new one, preferably with a wrist strap and staple it to your wrist just in case.
