if so, what if a person decides to believe in the "wrong" doctrine and have faith in it that is all "correct"?

Sometimes. But other times it's people who are actually educated about things, but there's something they feel is missing. That's where 'faith' comes in. They feel that all investigation has led them to a place where faith is the only option. It's an interesting choice to consider, I think.

Edit: Thank you, Wired.

"is faith just deciding to believe without further investigation what to believe?"

Biblical faith is belief based on reason. If good reasons don't exist, then there isn't a basis for faith.

The value of faith depends on the thing you have faith in. I can have faith that the plane will take me to New York, but if I got on the wrong plane, what good is the faith?

No. certainly as quickly as you swallow the "faith" pill, that's trouble-free to then reason you to have faith something. it is not growth your are experiencing, it incredibly is the means to evaluation a thank you to grow to be extra ignorant. a decision we've here in u.s. because of the fact we've freedom of religion. i think of that this freedom is massive. considering which you've the religion you elect, and that i could have the single i elect. What i locate this is contradictory to that's which you're feeling I ought to have the comparable ideals which you do. That will become an infringement on my freedom. consequently, religious faith is only sturdy for people who make regardless of selection they desire.

faith isn't you naming and claiming it.

faith is God naming it, and you claiming it.

all faith is, is you believing in what God has already said. (thinking His thoughts after Him)

Romans 10:17 faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

thats why it says in all of the old accounts of the prophets... the Word of the Lord came to so and so. and that is why any Christian will tell you that ours is a sure faith.

No , in fact faith COMES from investigation or familiarity.

I sort of consider "faith" to be what is left over after you're exhausted from looking for evidence of something that isn't there. You just sort of give in and say, "Well, I'll just have 'faith'..."
Then you can stop looking.
