I've pretty much "plugged" my nose by pinching it my whole life when I have to sneeze. If I don't it seems like it makes me have to sneeze a lot more. The problem is that for the past couple of months whenever I plug my nose and sneeze I get this severe pain in my left arm. It starts in my shoulder and works it's way down. The best way I can describe it is by calling it a "severe ache". Sometimes it only hurts for 30 seconds or so and sometimes it lasts for minutes.

I know it's bad to plug your nose and if this pain persists i'm going to have to stop. But does anyone know why this could be happening? It might sound silly but I associate pain in your left shoulder with a heart attack.

For anyone that might want to know, i'm male, 5'11", 24yrs old, 200lbs.

Thanks :)

I read somewhere that the human sneeze is something like 200 mph and you are plugging it? Surprised that your body has not exploded! Sneezing is the body's way of getting rid of something you inhaled, be it bacteria, virus, pollen, dust and it needs to expel the invader. Why you insist on plugging your nose is beyond me? If air traveling at 200 mph cannot vacate the body, then no wonder you are having pain. Good Luck, expect to read about your autopsy in a scientific paper and have a good laugh for a change.

What is with the nose questions?Just do not plug your nose when you sneeze.I never do and just grab a tissue and let her go man. Its' like you are trying to contain the dam but thier's no reason to do so.See if that helps with the other pain you have?
