My daughter slid into a brick wall last night, icy street, slow speed hit on left front corner of bumper cover, airbag did not deploy. Fortunately I have a nice bumper cover on an identical parts car. How long should I wait after disconnecting battery before I can safely remove damaged bumper cover without possibility of deploying airbag?

the airbag won't deploy. Trust me I have airbags in my honda and I remove the front bumper and all the supports all the time to add body kits or do work from when I got a crash. But if you want to be on the safe side the general rule of thumb when working on any components (eg. inside the console, steering wheel/column, doors, seats) is 30 mins. goodluck

You do not need to disconnect the battery to replace the bumper cover. The impact sensor is located behind the bumper impact bar, which is inside the bumper cover. As long as the airbag did not deploy, you are ok. If it will make you feel better to disconnect the battery first, then wait at least 10 minutes after disconnecting it.

If you're going to be hitting the body panels or the frame with a hammer there is a chance you could deploy the bag on this older model. It would be best to disable the system by disconnecting the battery

Pull the fuse for the airbag also. The book says 20 minutes to wait. I would say an hour. There should be a switch or two under the radiator. Disconnect them. Make sure the battery is disconnected before you do any of this.

you don't really need to remove the battery cable on it ,as long as it didn't trip the air bag your ok with that one the sensor is behind the bumper cover, you would actually have to dent the bumper to set it off,you wont have no problems from swapping those out, good luck ,and have a good holiday.
