does pocket lent count?

I tithe once a month since I get paid once a month in inconsistent amounts, which I would not consider an offering because it is a specific amount always set aside for God and should be expected of a disciple of Christ.

Sometimes I give additional offerings for certain church fundraisers or charitable donations to other organizations.

I don't judge, but I am disappointed when I find out that someone with much to give gives very little (like $10 a week).

Many people have their contribution deducted from a checking account instead of putting in an envelope every week.

I'm in the choir, so I'm singing at that time. I put in the same amount each month, but not necessarily at every Mass. If there's someone sitting near me that I know or at least recognize, I'll ask them to put my envelope in. If a certain usher is there (his daughter is also in the choir), he gets it from me before Mass starts.

I guess some of my contribution goes to the Church in general, but most of it supports MY parish, the school, our programs, keeps the heat and the AC turned on. Sometimes there's a second collection for something special. I decide what to do based on the purpose of that collection.

No! You are not wrong or demonized by God if you do not give. In God's Word he refers to tithes or 10% of gross earnings. God required this investment in your own church. further He refers to offerings. These are the tidbits that you feel God would have you add to the church coffers. "Entirely up to you"
God required a "Tithe". He does not require an "Offering".
Further, God declares that you help your neighbor. The Bible describes "neighbor" as follows.
First: YOUR OWN FAMILY - get it in your mind NOW
second: your closest relatives, etc.
thirdly: your physical neighbor.
THEN: his neighbor, and then their neighbor until you have covered your neighborhood, your city, your province, your country, and THEN around the world.
Too many charities want us to support the world without consideration of our neighbor that is next door; or a relative.
However, remember if your closest relative is wasting their money on Booze, drugs, gambling, etc. then they should be overlooked and your charity should go on to the next in line.
IF you have not looked after your own FIRST then you are not Blessed of God by donating to the rest of the world

It wouldn't be worth much if it were required. Offerings are supposed to be free will, and given 'hilariously'. If you can't give with an open heart, it'd be better not to give at all.

I don't give as often as I should, mainly because I forget, and I don't work, so I can't actually give out of MY substance. But I would if I could, and I will when I can.

I always give my tithe to the church the first service after my payday.

I give offerings to my church as I feel led to by the Lord.

It's great that you give. Giving to a local church has wide range effect - as the church in turn supports charities and missions. I give regularly to my church and support ministries outside of church too.

At our church, when it's time for the offering, we tell visitors NOT to give - which is pretty radical, but we really mean it.

So we have givers and non-givers and everyone is treated the same, no one judges anyone.

(wow- that's weird that I'd get a thumbs down for this...)

Not always and not only at church.

Sometimes I prefer to give offering to complete strangers, desperated victims of poverty.

I believe it's much better than giving to a rich church.
Do you agree?

No, I tithe to my church through the internet. When the plate comes by I just pass it along.

If you saw me in church you'd probably think I wasn't giving anything! :P
