I am curious what religion uses what symbols - if there is any consistency. So if you could also put your religion, I would appreciate it.

This is an interesting question for me and I have not really thought about it before.. As a pagan I do not celebrate xmas as such but the trees and yule are part of my celebrations and beliefs for that time of year. I guess I could put a number of things on top of an evergreen but I would choose something of the Gods that chose the people of of the region where those celebrations originated.

My Christmas tree isn't up yet, I haven't had time to do it yet. So mine has dust on it... Usually though its a star to remember the star that guided the Magi, or occasionally an Angel. What I'd really like to get is a Nativity scene ornament that sits up there.

Oh by the way, I am a Christian.

I don't like to use the Angel much, because this joke I once heard always comes to mind:

An angel brought Santa a Christmas tree, she delivered it when Santa was busy checking his "naughty and nice" list. She asked him, "Where should I stick it?".......

I grew up putting an angel on the top. My last girlfriend used to put a star so I had a star. She's gone, so this year it will be the angel. When my daughter is old enough. No more tree for me. I don't believe in the holiday, but she does.

I suppose, technically I am a Catholic - at least that is what my parents are although religion was not a big part of my upbringing.

I am spiritual and do believe there are higher powers beyond our knowledge but am not a die-hard Catholic.

Sooooo, with that, I have 2 brass elephants on top of my tree. Each of them is holding a gold star from their trunks.

Merry Christmas!

A gold angel in a gold dress playing a harp. I think the wings, are only symbolic of the ability to move faster than humans can understand. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or LDS, or Mormon.

I'm a Christian, and use one of several that I've obtained over the years. My favorite is a light-up angel, and that's probably what we'll use this year. I don't see it as being a religious symbol, but a matter of personal preference.

Nothing yet, but eventually there'll be a star. There'll also be several Nativity sets underneath. One has the family looking like Alaskan natives, one American Indians, one Africans, etc...my favorite is Celtic, looks like Stonehenge to me. I like an ecumenical holiday, so there will be a menorah too.

And I'm Roman Catholic.

Wiccan - and I have a lighted five point star on the top of my Yule tree, in honor of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.
