I'm supposed to go to Nicaragua mid February, but am worried I won't receive it in time. Recently I heard that the processing time is back to normal. Is this true?

Its back to normal, according to them, but many people are still receiving them late. My cousin (who just got here to Managua on Sunday) renewed her passport about 4 months in advance and got them quick. Although there is a small chance you will receive it late, you have plenty of time. We are in December and i honestly don't think you will get it any later than late January. If you are worried though, you can pay extra for them to speedy up the process.

Have fun in Nica, its wonderful here! All the wonderful Christmas festivities are happening. Today (Dec. 7th) is the Purisima and we are getting ready for the party later at 5 - 6ish.

Typically takes about 3 weeks but allow 6 weeks. If in doubt, visit the nearest passport and pay for the one day service.

Yes it is and it can depend on where you live. Some places are processing it faster as they aren't a border state. Taking 2 to 6 weeks in most areas.

The state site says the processing time is about six weeks maximum. You can have it expedited for a fee, and get it in two-three weeks.

If you pay for the Post Office to check before you send, about 10 days!
