Can you play ps3 games on a ps2?

I really want to buy a ps3, but I still want to keep my ps2 games. Can I play ps2 games on a ps3??

it depends which model of the ps3 u want if you gt the 80gb or the 60gb then you can but u will have to redo all of your memory because the ps3 does not have ps2 memory slots. also if u buy the 40gb then u will not be able to play ps2 games. and no ps3 game will not work on ps2 because the ps2 doesnt read blu-ray discs only the ps3 does.

It depends on which version of the PS3 that you get. If you get the 40 gb version, then you can't play PS2 games. The 60 gb version is the best for playing PS2 games because it has the emotion engine, which was used to play PS2 games. The 80 gb uses software emulation, so it has fewer games that's playable.
