With religion, someone is asking you to accept their Truth. God says this, God says that. This and this and this are not acceptable. All good people do this, that, and the other. Well I think that's bogus. What if God doesn't say that to me?
Am I supposed to believe the pastor or God? Am I supposed to believe the Bible or God? One is indirect in seven hundred different ways and the other is not only current but is exactly relevant to MY life. One is the Word of God, as written, translated, twisted, retranslated, and interpreted by men. The other is simply the Word of God. Which would you believe?
I am not content accepting what other people think my relationship with God should or shouldn't be. Let no man come between you and God. As for the word 'religion' itself....it just looks funny.
With Love,
Shane K.

Religion is an organized group of people whi feel they have the only way, the right way and everybody else is wrong. A relationship with God, is just that "a relationship with God"

There is a Parallel Universe to Ours.
It is a Spiritual Universe that Makes This Universe Possible.
You can Change Things in This Universe by Operating "In Faith" in The Parallel Universe.
Now, there is a Mental Realm.
Religion operates in the Mental Realm.
religion dosen't Operate "In Faith".
Getting Born-Again (being Translated Into The Kingdom of HIS Dear Son---allows you to Change Things in This Universe by Operating in Faith---in The Parallel Universe Called "The Kingdom of GOD".
See?
Operating in Faith is called---REALITY.
Jesus is Lord!
Hope this Helps.

(James 1:26-27) If anyone thinks to be religious among you, yet does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is vain.
(Jam 1:27) Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Thanks for Asking ! RR

i think its the catholic stigma attached to the word...
with a heavy catholic influence in the US, "religion" brings to mind being brought up with unexplainable, unhelpful rituals and santa clause....
I can see it in their eyes, they say "religious people" they think, hit ya with a bible, cant talk about anything but their own faith, pushy, damning, close minded etc etc
relationship sounds more personal

It is how it is used. If it is used to try to remove the wall of separation between church and state then I oppose to it. If religion is used only in church then it is ok

I don't claim that but it's not the word that turns me off, it's the actions of it.
