I bought some cool whip for Thanksgiving, but very used it. So, I put it in my freezer. Now, I'm making a dessert and I need to thaw the cool whip.

Could I put it in the mircrowave, or will that make it funny?

How can I thaw the cool whip, fast?

You're right the microwave will make it "funny" and "runny". It really doesn't take that long to thaw at room temp. If you can't wait that long, then use the defrost cycle on your microwave VERY carefully!

Let it sit in a sink with cold running water. This is the way restaurants do it and it doesn't violate any health codes. The microwave should only be used to thaw foods that are to be cooked.

You ask, "Does anyone know . . . ?" There can be only two possible answers to that question: Somebody knows or Nobody knows. Certainly there must be someone out there who knows. So my answer is a resounding YES!! But is that what you really were asking about? Maybe you wished to determine HOW MANY people know?

I'd say cold water - hot water will melt it. if you have a marble slab just set it out on that and it'll defrost in no time.
