I bought 4 rechargable batteries to use with my camera, it only uses 2 at a time. If i charge all of them, use two in my camera and keep two for backup and dont use them for a while, will it shorten the life of them?

Michael B has it backwards; NiCd batteries will self discharge at a slower rate than NiMh. But in either case, you should charge them before you are ready to use them for maximum capacity and usage.

Most rechargeable batteries being sold today are NiMh. The batteries will say on them what type they are. These do not have the "memory effect" that plagued NiCd. So it is OK to use them and NOT recharge them until you expect to use them again.

I use two batteries in my camera; and always carry the extra two in case the batteries go dead during usage. Then I recharge them all at the end of the day. But I am a heavy user of rechargeables, so they rarely go more than a few days without being used. If I were to leave them for a few weeks before use, they would lose a good 15% of their capacity just sitting on the shelf. You COULD leave them on charge all the time, buy you'd be paying for electricity to keep the charger going that is both unnecessary and would be a waste of our natural resources. Charge'm up the overnight before you need them.

That depends on the battery technology. Older Ni-Cd cells have a fast shelf discharge time (going flat in a few weeks). NiMH batteries hold their charge for several months. The latest batteries are lithium-ion and they hold their charge as well as non-rechargeable alkaline cells do (for years). The important thing is not to leave them DISCHARGED for any length of time.

After completely recharging them they gained't final 4r a month whether u do no longer use them in any respect, it is going to go on 4r 20-22 days. If u use them then much less this era comes down 2 say abt sixteen-18 days or ur use is accepted it is going to final 4r around 8-10 days or maybe much less. specific they r accessible in Mumbai.
