It would be very unwise to get another cat, if the cats you already have get on well together, getting another one could really upset them, cats are solitary animals, preferring their own space, they may start fighting, and even worse spraying to mark their territory, inside your house!! They do this as they feel very insecure, as you have brought an intruder into their territory, you could be lucky and it may not happen, but chances are it will, it happened to me. Best to stay with what you have already.

If you can afford to care for it, remembering that as the cats age they might need more Veterinary care. If you have the room for another, and if you don't mind the readjustment period then go ahead and get it! HOWEVER Don't expect to just add it without disrupting the others. If any of your cats has a problem already the introduction of another may make it worse. Cats really are not meant to live together in a pack and from lots of personal experience I can say some cats hate it! We had four cats that lived together in as near perfect harmony as you could get and my daughter brought home a kitten she found in a dustbin, before we knew it we had a full scale riot on our hands and all the cats started defending different areas of the house! They never settled again even when we re-homed the kitten, which I'm sure would never have been accepted! We also at one time had a male cat who several weeks after we introduced a new kitten, refused to stay in the house. Eventually a neighbour took him in and he lived with her happily on his own!
Sometimes it works out well sometimes it doesn't but some changes are always to be expected!

Not unless you have a lot of money to properly care for them with vet examinations etc. One young kitten could bring a disease and kill your other 3 cats.
Also do you realize how long cats are expected to live, because it sounds like you think 9 is old. Nine is young for a cat. I saw this week in the paper the oldest cat just died at 37 years old. Now suppose your cats live until age 37! Most cats live at least 20 years! Did you realize that? Think about it! An indoor cat can live much longer than an out door cat. So expect at least 20 good years of life out of your cats.

I have 3 cats too and if they're anything like mine then getting another would be a bad idea!! LOL! Basically, think back to how the older cats reacted to kittens in the house. Did they avoid it for weeks and fight? If not, then you could be ok.
Obviously another thing to think about is costs and if you're sure you can provide for it, then I see nothing wrong with another. Just make sure you are certain!!

i have more than 3. it cost about 100.00 food a month and 500.00+ yr for vet check ups. The yongest are 2 yrs old. I am committed to these guys for around 17+ yrs. Think about the cost. I think 3 is enough. Cant save them all. Instead donate time or $ to ur local animal shelter

I think it depends on how your cats interact with one another. If you have a calm, happy household a kitten could throw the mix out of joint. If all the cats are pretty cool with one another the kitten might fit in beautifully.

Only if you have the $$. The three cats are getting older and are likely to start costing more. Think hard before adding a fourth.

If you live alone, yes. You can't be a 'crazy cat lady' with only 3 cats.
